| Marshmallow Knight ☆ Supermod | I don't get the appeal of FF9. I've played it to the end, but it never really grabbed me. You're put on rails for most of three discs, there's no characterization with the bad guys (unlike Seifer or Sephiroth), and the card mini-game was a broken version of the FF8 one. What do you guys like about it? Oh, and I forgot: one of the cute parts of FF8 was the Chocobo World side game. I played the PC version, so I had that running in the background gathering items for me. We ended up editing its save file with a hex editor so it would give us ridiculous amounts of rare items. Fun times. |

| Gunjinkeeper | It's nostalgia in my case. I love FFIX because I grew up on it, because I like the characters (believe it or not), the music was vastly superior, and because I'm less into games about characters with stupidly designed swords in designer clothes and more into the fantasy genre. You know, because it's called Final Fantasy. And I ****ing hated FF8's card game and considered it a poorly developed precursor to FFIX's card game. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Ace. The bottom line is, you can keep your hex conflicting generator matrixes and your hacking mabobs, it's all about the experience for me. I had more fun with FFIX, it's one of the first games I ever truly loved, and I get all warm and fuzzy every time I play it. You don't get to **** on that. Also Sephiroth is lame. I automatically disregard all Sephiroth arguments in a conversation regarding my favorite game of all time, because he's a weak villain who did not, in fact, develop, unless 'developing' is getting more angsty as time goes on. And turning into a whatever the hell he was in that last battle. EDIT: Upon rereading this, allow me apologize for the tone. I don't mean this as an argument, but more as a defense of my memories. I kind of get defensive about **** I love. I'm sorry Ace. You know we still be cool. Last edited by Heishiro Mitsurugi; 08-21-2009 at 06:31 PM. |

While most games since VII have been getting more and more different, becoming more distant from the original games, IX felt almost like a trip back in time. It really felt like a NES- or SNES-era Final Fantasy game. I also thought it had some of the best characters in the series (and Quina), and some of the most memorably lines/scenes. I'd put it right under FFVI as one of the best Final Fantasy games. __________________ This is a signature. |

Getting the Perfect Game requires you to get the 100 million Cursed Spikes. This is the honest way of doing things. Tetra Master was tough to master, but it didn't have any of those annoying features (can anyone say Plus?) that Triple Triad had. And the game was more "Final Fantasy" ish to me. FF needs more equipment based setups and swords shields and armor. Any technology should be limited to World War I era technology. And while FFIX had no characterization of the villains, FFVIII had no characterization of the playable characters, which is probably more important. Plus Zidane, unlike Squall, is someone who has high hangingoutitude. Plus Vivi, Beatrix, Marcus, Blank, and Freya. Even Eiko was likable to me. Not to mention the great piece of work that is FFIX's soundtrack. -CSM |

| Gunjinkeeper | ^I was pretty badass at Tetra Master, actually. I destroyed Gilgamesh for hours to steal all of his cards. Anyway, thank you Val and CSM for putting into words what I was trying to say with my RAGE. ![]() |

| Goku lives on the Sun | FF9 was whimsical, one of the few Final Fantasy games to truly feel like a "fantasy" to me. That's what I liked about it. |

You know I'm trying to get my hands on BOTH these games, since I think I lost half the discs plus I have no means to play them with (my PS2 broke years ago). -CSM |

Finished up to returning home from Dollet. Sweet game... also, considering the first time I played it I didn't even understand Junctions until around Disc 4 (I was 10), so at least this time I know what I'm doing. __________________ This is a signature. |
