Persona 3

Anyone besides me and CL play this? If so, discuss it here!

Persona 3 is a good RPG for people who are jaded with traditional RPGs and is the second best game I have ever played.

The thing I like about Persona 3 is it's modern day flair. As a game set in 2009, it eerily emulates culture this year. In the MMO social link, I was shocked about how much modern day net slang was in a game made that long ago. My only complaint? The AI can be damn retarded sometimes

Its pretty refreshing to play something as thoroughly modern as the Shin Megami Tensei series after endless streams of Fantasy and Space Operas.

It was only made in '07, MMO terms really haven't changed in the past decade, much less the past three years.

Even playing on hard, my team mates stupid moves never actually made me die, but Damn I wish I could take away Mitsuru's debuff/confuse skills.

The AI stopped caring at the end of a boss battle. They started healing, and using status upgrades on the team. When the boss, who knew Maziodyne, only needed one turn of attack to die.

Mitsuru needs to NOT use Marin Karin on bosses that are IMMUNE TO CHARM. Gragh.

Yes, the AI can be freaking retarded.

However, the game is amazinginginging.

The PSP Version of Persona 3 remedies the AI doing stupid things entirely by giving you full control over all allies. However, it also does stuff like remove some of the cutscenes, so for example, when someone walks into the scene it looks like they suddenly appear out of nowhere. I think it's more or less something you're supposed to play if you've already played FES or the PS2 version so you'd have an idea on what happens. The one thing I can say is

Spoiler Below
When everyone's watching Nyx show up and Takaya crawls in, he's not shown doing so, and neither is everyone else celebrating Nyx's appearance so it's almost like they all followed you there or appeared out of nowhere, since all you see is Nyx showing up.

It's a rather nice improvement over a lot of other Megaten games, which really are showing their age with how you practically need a strategy guide to find your way through. (Good luck getting spell cards without either brute-forcing your way through or using a strategy guide)

Yeah, from the looks of it the PSP version is one you play for the better battle system and the extra social links and opportunities as a female MC, but after you've played the original to go off of.

I still need to get started on the Shin Megami series. And the Mother series. After I finish the Final Fantasy and Mario games I still haven't played. And Ecco the Dolphin.

Gameplaywise I agree, but I gotta say I prefer the whole p3 concept to that of p4.

P3 had the evoker for moments of badass, but seemed a lot more cliche'd.

P4 seems more down to earth and the characters are easier to relate to.
(This may just be my small town upbringing talking)

Well if you're getting into the Megaten games I gotta warn you they probably haven't aged that well.
