So...will Square ever stop sucking?

It looks like the golden years of Squaresoft are ending. They are moving away from making good, quality games, and instead are taking the "throw cheap games together real fast just to make $$$" path. I mean, seriously. The quality of FF games has been decreasing with every new game. They've seemed to stop making new games to good series like Chrono Trigger. They've seemed to stop coming out with anything new at all. They arn't doing the Xenogears series anymore. We get crappy online games. And all they seem to be working on is sequals to Kingdom Hearts. I mean, what else are they working on? All I know is:

-Final Fantasy 12 (Probably just as decent as FF10. Nothing special.)
-Kingdom Hearts 2 (Probably be good. But I still need to beat the first one)

And, like, that's it. Yeah, Enix is throwing some new stuff out too, but I never liked any of Enix's games, so yeah, I'll ignore them.

So yeah, Square is giving me nothing to look forward to. It's kinda disappointing.-jay

While the new Square games do tend to suck, they probably cost more. Just look at the staff size, for one thing.

Maybe if "Chrono Break" (if it ever comes out) is up to the same par as Chrono Trigger, then maybe. But if it's like Chrono Cross... no. And FF10 was alright. KH was alright. It's gone from good to alright, what's the logical next step hmm?

Final Fantasy 9 was awesome.

Anyway, I doubt that Square will be what they used to be.

I'll bite and admit I'm raising an eyebrow at Square(I miss when they were called Squaresoft...

). I mean, they have to stop slapping the Final Fantasy label on everything they make. Crystal Chronicles shouldn't even have been a Final Fantasy game, and it's one of the reasons it got such a bad rep. As a game, it was rather decent, but as an FF game... well. [img]tongue.gif[/img] And Final Fantasy XI? What the ****? I still can't believe they included that online trash into the linear series -- why, at the very least, not FF Online, or something. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Personally, I don't think Square is stupid. You can only make so many sequels to a series before the titles start sounding idiotic. Final Fantasy thirteen? Sure, sounds catchy actually(the magic of number thirteen). But Final Fantasy Twenty??? WTF? There is no way they can go that far and keep a straight face. I'd like to see something new.

And FF 12... well, other than the battle system(That I will bla), there isn't much we ****ing know, so bashing it now seems rather low-watt.

there is nothing wrong with Final Fantasy XI.. its one of the best games out of the series. Unfortunatly, people speak down upon it, even though they havnmt played it.. or at least 5 hours of it.

Out of curiosity, why is everyone trashing Final Fantasy XII? We know almost nothing about it other than some storyline details (It's in Ivalice), the battle system, and that Vaan looks like an idiot. I mean-Just because Vaan looks like an idiot doesn't mean he WILL be an idiot. Tidus at first looked like he would be a regular person, yet when I played it, I wanted to shove his sword down his throat. And I thought Zidane was a girl at first when I looked at screenshots. You know what they say, don't judge a book by its cover. Final Fantasy XII shows potential. Heck, it can even be the best one of all time for all I know!

And what's with all this FFXI bashing? It's seriously not all that bad. It just gets old after awhile like most MMORPGs do.

Oh by the way Jay, yes Square-Enix is working on a game other than Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts-Musashi Samurai Legend. Sequel to Square's only neglected game besides Threads of Fate-Brave Fencer Musashi.

He reminds me more of Marche. Ramza was more or less who Marche was based off of (Look at their character designs), but Ramza at least looked like a guy.

Yeah, FF XI really didn't seem like a Final Fantasy game to me, but rather a remnantof Dungeons and Dragons. Of course, I have not played it because of the monthly cost, so beyond that I can't rant about it.

Personally I wasn't too impressed with FF9. Of course, I had to replay the entire game when I had my memory card erased when I was near the end of Disc 3, which pissed me off. So...yeah.

And the reason why people (and myself) bash FFXI without playing it is because we're too smart to waste 100 bucks on buying a game and then paying 10 bucks a month to play it.-jay

That HAD to suck. And I KNOW how annoying that is when that happens. I had to replay Xenogears to find out what happens at the end because I accidentially erased my file. And that meant having to redo the beginning of Disc 2. -_-

And, yeah. I think FFXI should have been "Final Fantasy Online" and that Square-Enix shouldn't have just slapped the name "Final Fantasy" on CC. They only did that to insure that it sells-They did the same thing with FFA and the FFL trilogy.

Just because it may look like a piece of crap doesn't mean it will be. For all we know, this can turn out to be the best Final Fantasy ever, but that doesn't mean it can't turn out to be the worst.

I can't wait til the people who made the original games are dead. Change isn't always good but maybe hiring on new people would jumpstart some creative projects. Seriosuly someone should get rid of the character designer. FF7->now its been the same chick and almost the same guy save for hair and slight physical features. He does fine on the others but then the people who write how they should act in the game rehash previous character behaviors.

Square isn't sucking per say. Its just not giving anything to cheer that we haven't already seen. Then again they try something new and it sucks too. Double edged sword cuts em anyway they swing.
