Does your school have any good/stupid/unusual rules?

Good rules: No cell phones during school hours. Yeah. Cell phones drive me crazy. People can't go ten minutes without calling/pretending to call somebody. Why not GO TO WHERE THEY ARE?

Freshmen and people in poor academic standing are required to stay in a study hall during their free periods until the end of the first semester.

Stupid: No CD players in school. I can understand this. The philosophy behind it is that they don't want us to "break away from the academic environment." But sometimes we NEED to break away from the environment. I can't work my best if I'm restless where I am.

Unusual: I guess this is unusual...the dress code. We can only wear certain colors and styles. We have to keep shirts tucked in, no ankles showing, sleeves down to the elbows, skirts at the knee or below, etc. I'm happy with this, though.

As far as unusual goes, no black lip stick.

...Yeah, doesn't apply to me, as I'm a guy.
But still unusual.

Cool

At the middle school I went to there were some unusual rules: No hair coloring other than natural colors, no peircings other than in ears and if you had any you had to take them out or put a band-aid on them. there were a bunch of unusual rules at the middle school also no lipstick at all if it stood out at all. the highschool is much better about our freedoms

Thumbs down

According to my AP,
"Article 1, Section 7", reads, pants cannot be more than 2 cm below the belly button

REDICULOUS!

Students may not cuff any pants leg for any reason.

Any student misbehaving may be paddled by Principal Sutterland or Clayton

To add to PZoH's list...

Stupid: High schoolers are not allowed to use the middle school hallways. This rule was clamped down with no regards to the fact that some high school classrooms are in the middle school building, which requires many of us to use those hallways to get to class. For a while the middle school secretary would hide in the halls with a camera and take pictures of any high schooler who happened to be in the middle school for any reason and then post the photos on a website. She would even take pictures of people in the bathroom. That was creepy, and thank God it stopped--if I knew the URL, I'd link you all to a lovely picture of me gasping for the camera on my way to Bio.

Stupid: If a select few sophomores break a table in the Sophomore Lounge, the entire class gets kicked out of the Lounge "until further notice."

Stupid: All items of clothing must be indistinguishable from those in the Land's End School Catalog. Skirts must touch the floor when you kneel. No elbow-length sleeves. Socks must extend above the malleolus of the ankle (Look at me flash my sexy malleoli, gentlemen).

Stupid: All students must remove their coats while "docked" (Everyone made up his or her own creative definition of the word "docked" in response to this one).

Arrow

Stupid: iPods are allowed to be played during class even if they distract others from work. Why the hell do people feel the need too set the volume on Full Blast?

stupid: An Anti-Bully law isn't being enforced. Seriously-They made that like 2 or 3 years ago and people are still making up **** about them having sex with "your" girl. For one, you do NOT own love interests.

stupid: No ear plugs during assemblies. Well when the teachers are YELLING into the Microphone, wouldn't it be nessecary for the non-hearing impaired (The hearing impaired are most likely the ones who think that iPods and CD players need to be turned up too full-blast to be able to hear it) to get earplugs before they end up going deaf at the age of 16?

Stupid: Your regiesterred to a parking place if you drive. Already they had to make an announcement to a guy driving a white sports car who thought it would be funny to take up 3 PARKING PLACES or park RIGHT IN FRONT OF A STOP SIGN AND CREATE A TRAFFIC JAM!

stupid: You're not allowed to expose too much skin, and you get in trouble for wearing mini-skirts or short-shorts yet the cheerleaders's skirts are so tiny they make the anime girl's mini-skirts look like dresses.

No exposed ankles? A rule on hair coloring? 0.0

Wow, I was taking for granted what our school lets us get away with. Although we're only allowed CD players/ipods only on exam days.

Smart: No pep rallies, no megaphones, no dress code (except the indecent exposure laws)

Dumb: The computer agreements that have to be assigned. No eating during class (even though, due to the lack of a working cafeteria, everyone eats in classrooms during lunch periods)

I don't recall most of the rules. I never really cared to adhere to them.

The fear of gang-related stuff is starting to get rediculous at my school. Wearing a shirt that has anything to do with gangs - yes, even colors, like red and blue - is banned. Having a shirt draped over your shoulder is illegal, because it's a signal to other gangbangers that you are this and that...It was understandable, because last year there was a gang targeting our school. Now however, there's no threat, so everything is just getting rediculous...

And weird stuff like your hair has to be a natural hair color if you dye it (not necessarily yours, just a natural color).

I can understand why my school didn't permit CD players; they didn't want to pay for stolen proriety, etc.

I think it's stupid when they don't let you bring 'em to class -- i mean, jesus, your typing up a program/game for the Visual Bascis Exam, and I can't listen to music while doing it? Music helps me think, dammit!

Good rule: Headware Allowed. I don't have enough time in the morning to brush my hair...

Bad rule: No gold wrist watches. I dun get it either. Maybe it's screaming mug me or something.

Hmmm... I don't really care much about my school's rules. I do what I want.

And Digi ... how is the cheerleaders wearing those miniskirts a bad thing? o.O

Exactly, it is getting VERY rediculous,
I was wearing plain white T-shirts before everyone started copying me , they never got on me. now EVERYONE is wearing a damn t-shirt as an outfit, and they have the BIGGEST problem with it. Andre got a detention slip Friday for wearing only a blue t-shirt, and blue jeans, with some white shoes (and socks of course), they said they wouldnt've gotten on him if he hadn't been wearing his dogtag, they thought he was gangbanging, blah,
2 things wrong
1. The dogtag is a memorial of our grandfather
2. They've been ultra-paranoid about what he wears since he was hit, they think suddenly a bullet wound is going to make him turn into a gangbanger, **** he's just an average black male in a majorly white school.

Yeah, HMS has some super-dumb rules. o_O And the high school wasn't that much better, either.

College is awesome when it comes to dress codes. Meaning that there ARE NONE. Yippity ****.
