I start choir this Monday, and I go back to school on Wednesday. I'll post them then.

I've got my Jew's harp here with me, but the band here probably isn't interested.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Heh, that was our musical last year. I was a Shark girl, and I did the "Somewhere" vocal.

West Side Story music has got to be the hardest thing in the world.

West Side Story!!!

I was Francisca, one of Maria's little "I Feel Pretty" friends. I was called back for Maria, though.

I've been to a lot of band competitions over the years, and I think at every single one of them at least one band has done West Side Story.

All my school does anymore is original compositions. Meh. Back in the day when my sister was in band, they did all the cool stuff. Two swing shows (Zoot Suit Riot included) and a Medal of Honor show.

Hehe, it's fun for us to alternate marching between 6/8 and 3/4 in America.

West Side Story for marching? That's crazy KK. I'd rather stick with the good old national anthem or something easy like that.

Our fun song is 'Hey Baby'. Song's alright; some love, some hate, but if you're a band member at my school, you end up becoming attached practically no matter what. We get to sing and clap, yay! Well, until our turn comes to play. (Oh dear, that rhymed.) Ah, and the trumpets are doing a feature for "Let's Get Crazy", so they have to all line up in front and do some moves. It's kind of cool, but the rest of us just stay in concert formation and play. *Sigh* Clarinets never get any credit in marching band... =[

Let's see. We're playing October, Windsprints, and First Suite in F.

As for Marching Band, we're doing a show called Metropolis.

And Jazz Band... Well, that hasn't started yet.

School choir: Apparently no tenors or basses signed up, so it's a women's ensemble this year. "Ride On, King Jesus!" and some other music we haven't gotten yet.

School orchestra: "Mother Ginger" from "the Nutcracker" and some others.

Community youth chorale: "Heleluyan," "Soli Deo Gloria," "Consecrate the Place and Day," "Musicks Empire," "Exsultate Deo," "Keep Your Lambs," "Come to the Water," and some other stuff later on.

Church contemporary music team: Next Sunday, it looks like...let me check my email..."This is the Day," "I'm Gonna Sing, Sing, Sing," "River of Life," "Amazing Grace."

Student-led vocal ensemble: Maybe a few selections from previous years: "Carol of the Bells," "Sing a New Song," "Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair," "O My Dear Heart," "The Holly and the Ivy," "Sound the Trumpet," "Sanctus," "Dome Epais," the prayer from "Hansel and Gretel," and "When You Believe," as well as our own three-part arrangements of "Sanctuary," "The Star-Spangled Banner," and "America the Beautiful". I'd also like to try some new songs: "Maria Matrem," "Crist and St. Marie," "Bean Pháidín," Eugene Butler's "Glorificamus Te," Fauré's "Sanctus," another really weird "Sanctus," "Lift Thine Eyes" from "Elijah's Angel," "Cape Breton Lullaby," "Carol of the Ladder," and Schubert's "Psalm 23." I want to write or arrange some more stuff...it's so much fun to hear it sung for the first time!

I'm a Soprano II in all the vocal ensembles, and I'm guessing I'll be a Violin II again this year, or perhaps a Violin III, seeing as we have ONE violist in the group.

The theme this year for my marching band is Elton John. All of the music and drill charts are arranged by my band teacher. The songs are (in order) "I'm Still Standing", "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me", and "Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)". This lineup is mostly cushy for the trombone section (which I'm in). The first song consists mostly of quarter notes, and it wasn't to hard to memorize. The second song is a slower song, and consists of a lot of rests in the first part. The third part will be a doozy to memorize, because it has a lot of eight notes. The band isn't taking anything seriously once again, so I'm doubtful we'll get higher than a II in our marching band contest.

Our Marching Band theme is Jesus Christ Superstar, heh. The songs are Prolouge/Opener, King Herod's, I Only Want To Know, and Finale. We watched that one Madison band thing do it on a DVD. Imagine how much work it takes for that o_O
The parade song we do is Tiger of San Pedro.

Dunno what we'll do for concert band, yet, because we've been doing Pep Band music.

For school, we're doing some weird song about a scarecrow running for senator (got me), "Order My Steps", "Java Jive", and "The Phantom of the Opera". They're mostly pretty cool.
