Some people are actually playing around with the idea of doing away with tests like the ACT and SAT.

Dumb idea or no?

ACTs and SATs are very important for college; without those, we're at a loss for comparisons person to person because of (you named it in the other topic) the widely disproportionate educational standards. However, ACTs and SATs aren't true measures of ability/knowledge... but for that matter, neither are your GPAs to some degree. However, I think a combination of standardised testing and high school performance is enough to, however, establish a good portion of your academic record.
