Some of those quotes remind me of my own school (I go to a charter school, and although there's no official religion there, nearly all students are right-wing Christians). Some are just bizzare.

The only thing worse than close-minded students at a school is a close-minded administration. As long as you don't have that, it's pretty simple to ignore the students. (I mean, unless they come up to you directly.)

To hear about that much ignorance by the student body is quiet disturbing. I know it's out their but when hearing about it being that big in a school is awfully. If you wanted to leave I would not blame you at all, I probably would. As much as their is some ignorance in Maine like in the world, I have never heard that much in my school. I know that their is alot of problems but know on the scale that you have described. I go to a public school too. You would be in serious trouble if you said those things like that and I'm sure the student body would want kick your behind out of their.

If someone was to treat some of my friends like that I would be the scariest thing alive. The best thing to do is laugh at their ignorance, educate them, and defend your friends when needed. I was innocent and fragile before I was a senior but I survived and grew stronger but did not lose myself in the process. For those having a rough time hang in there and you will make it through the bleakest moments. I survived suicided, depression, and even a seizure. I believe that can make it and I believe all of you can too.
