I HATE My School!

Now, unlike most high-schoolers, I don't hate it because of the teachers, the rules, the boredom, the subjects taught, or anything like that. I hate the students! Not all of them of course, but I have to say the majority of the ones I know.

Before I start, I guess I'll say that I go to a Catholic school. Now over the last symester I've heard some of the worst ignorant bull I have ever heard in my life, mostly in my civics and religion class where open discussion on issues is encouraged. Almost everyone is a self-righteous idiot, and not to mention the biggest hypocrits ever! Here's just some random qoutes that stick out in my mind:

-"Do you feel sorry for homeless people cause I don't. I mean most of them are just asking money to get more drugs. I read a study that said most homeless people dropped out of school and they just don't want to work."

-"Gay people just want to force their gayness on all of us. They shouldn't be allowed to kiss or hug or hold hands in public, it's just disgusting."

-"If a woman is wearing a slutty outfit and goes around at night in a bad neighborhood she's practically begging to be raped. It's her own fault."

-"People who read the Bible in their spare time are losers who have no life."

-(referring to a teacher who got so frustrated one time with a student that she got really mad and started crying)"She's such a psychopath. I'm actually scared to be around her."

-"Police officers are all racist and corrupt."

-"Homosexuality is unnatural. It's a disease. There's something wrong with their brain, I know there a clinics where you can be treated for it. So I don't see why we have to put up with them."

-"We shouldn't be taught to respect other religions. This is a Catholic school!"

-"Chinese people get their names from banging on pipes and hearing what sound it makes"

-"You're so stupid. Stop acting like such a Jew!"

-"If I had a kid who told me he was gay I wouldn't stand for it. I'd just disown him. I'd just tell him to leave my house and not come back."

-If it were up to me all the gay people in the world would be shot."

-"I think sometimes people just deserve to die. I mean nowadays most of the people in prison want to be in there because its so comfortable, and so they're committing crimes to get in. If they used the death penalty crime rates would drop."

-"I don't care if I break laws as long as I don't hurt anyone."

-"I hate gay people, but Will and Grace is a hilarious show."

-"I wish I lived in one of those poor African countries so I wouldn't have to go to school."

And probably many more. You get the point. And its not just some people doing this. The quotes I wrote were said by a variety of people, good and bad students, different races, male and female. Argh, it's so frustrating, I can never get a point across because it's almost always like 3 people against 30.

I too go to a Catholic high school and even the comments there don't compare to the bull**** you've mentioned. Don't even pay any mind to it because it's almost impossible to combat ignorance. The case with Catholic high schools is that it puts the students there in a little bubble, isolated from the rest of the world...thank goodness I have friends outside of school.

Anyway, the kids in my school yo ucan tell have been stuck to a simple minded town that traps its residents so they know of nothing outside of their city/state.

It's like the whites (excluding the rednecks) seperate themselves from blacks and vice versa, yet the rednecks (of all people huh?) and the blacks are like best of friends.

But I'm not sayin this just to say it, I've been in this place 3 years (3 DAMN YEARS JESUS HELP!), and I've heard some of the dumbest comments towards blacks because they only time they even BOTHER to go tothe black side of town is to go to the town square or the post office (or even one of the parks that holds youth games). I've been asked stupid ass questions like

"Can black people tan?"
Yes- we can. Dumbass.

"Why do blacks always brag about their guns?"
I don't know. ****, is it only us? Ever heard of the NRA dumbass?

"Why do blacks hate slavery?"
Well, damn, you got me. Maybe it's because our ancestors were thrown into that **** for hundreds of years?

"Isn't 50 Cent the greatest rapper alive"
Hell no. I know, that's not as stupid as everything else, but it had to be mentioned damnit.

"Why are you guys so scary?"
Scary? **** me. We ain't scary, y'all are just scared of us, there's a difference.

Yes, I am well aware of it. Take my religion teacher last semester: "The Catholic church is actually the most moderate of all of the Christian churches." Haha. Right.

It might have more to do with the fact that Catholic schools have a seperate public board in this province (Incredibly stupid, but that's a different debate). They belong to the same union as public school teachers, so there's that whole "union culture" of where we much only support Liberals and the Conservatives will destory everything.

Nothing beats how wrong my Civics teacher is though. "America put Castro, Kim Jong-il, and Mao into power! I go down to Buffalo and everyone's a redneck!" And so on and so forth.

While I do agree with the sentiment behind many of those quotes, certainly there are better ways it could've been expressed. But these are high schoolers, and unfortunately that's just the way high schoolers are. They have strange ideas as to what they need to do and say in order to be accepted, and one of these is that a coarse and blunt comment is more impressive than a well-reasoned argument.

And keep in mind that tasteless comments come from BOTH sides of any issue.

I know many Catholics (other than myself) that have that same ideology. Which is funny, because some of it contradicts the Catholic faith.

Well, unless it's a simple, chaste kiss, I really don't like watching ANYe making out in public, heterosexual or whatnot. Still, its their own life, and everyone has the right to do whatever they want (within legal boundaries, of course). So if someone wants to kiss, I'll just look the other way.

Well, I do believe that if women want men to respect them, they should dress more modestly. Unless we respect ourselves, how can we expect men to respect us? ... Heaven is supposed to be a place of eternal happiness, if I'm not mistaken. As long as it's not premarital, I think God'll let it slide. I'm just worried I'll never play video games again when I die. But, so they go...
