Whats weird with me is that I always make good grades in school. In fact, my GPA is like a 3.9 right now and I am in the National Honor Society. However, what drives me crazy is the fact that Im not really that smart at all. For example, my SAT and ACT scores (posted in that other thread) don't really show "A" quality knowledge, so it just drives me crazy on how it works that way. I try my best to study hard and get the marks in school, but I find that Im only this good by "dumb luck." Either that or my teachers aren't teaching me the things i need to know. I am probably the hardest worker at my school, and even I am starting to realize that I am struggling. I don't want to struggle. Im not trying to struggle. I just am. Then there are those nerdy people who just seem to know everything without a reason for it. Am I like slowly deteriorating or something? |

| Marshmallow Knight ☆ Supermod | You're a big fish in a small pond. In a school, there are so many smart people. Depending on your school, that may be a very small number. It doesn't sound like dumb luck to me; you're just 'smarter' than everyone else. I mean that by you excel in acedemics, relatively speaking. Therefore, you cull the high marks. Some people would have nothing to do with acedemics, not go into science/business, and that's that. But, there are people as smart as you are, in an neighbouring school. And the school next to that, etc. It is my belief that the SAT and ACT weed out the really really good from the good; your score would reflect that. If I recall correctly, anyone over 1400 is genius enough (where 1600 is the max score). I felt that way; high school was a breeze. I went into Computer Engineering in a hard-to-get-in university; everyone in the class is a genius in their own right. I was no longer one of the smarter guys in the class. I failed my first exam, my average sunk to less than 80%, and that kind of sucked. But, hey, once you get out into the field, it doesn't really matter. Much dumber people with much lower scores have done surprisingly well. Maybe even became president, who knows. Anyways, you're just fine; it's just that you're using another meter stick to measure yourself against. |

I got A's in all but one of my classes. I made the Dean's List(4.0 GPA) my first semester of college. Blah, blah, blah...Despite all of that crap, I don't consider myself smarter than anybody else. I am just an average joe, but that is nothing to be ashamed of(I didn't realize this until I started college, though). My advice to you is don't worry about how "bad" you think you're doing. It sounds to me like you're doing just fine. |

Gender: Posts: 243 Thanks: 6 Thanked 4 Times in 4 Posts | I'm starting to realize that the smart kids really aren't different than anybody else. For the most part. I score really high, but I feel like such a moron, sometimes about common sense type of things. Other times there are kids who understand stuff better than me right away that get lower scores in general. But, my GPA is a 5.5 on a scale of 5 due to honors and AP credit. I just work my *** off. I'm smart, but I'm not a genius. It's tough to keep up with the work (especially with my music engagements), and I've felt like I've constantly been struggling for the last couple of months. And even the smarter kids screw up--a friend of mine who's tied for one of THE top ranks bombed the last history test (like me) while kids who usually scored lower did better. Sometimes it just works that way. Don't feel bad, I've felt like that too. Just trying your best is all you can do. Everybody struggles at something, sometime. |

| VGF's Resident Lennonist | I get a 3.7, but then again I don't turn in half of my assignments until 3 weeks after they're due... I also consider myself to be extremely intelligent. Then again, I'm also extremely arrogant. (but in a likeable way) |
