Angry I feel unjustice has been done to me.

I was taking my Algebra finals and apparently someone cheated off of my exam.
A week later I find out about it when I come home from my part time job. They gave me a zero because he cheated off my exam. I am and have been an A student in Math for my entire life. My parents knew i wouldn't have to cheat off of someone else to pass. We told them I would retake the exam if possible to prove so.
After that we can't get ahold of the school for 4 days. Then we find out that they knew i didn't cheat but am still recieving a zero. They tell me i am suppose to make sure people can't cheat off my test. They thought i knew about him cheating because he copied the whole exam and I was told that i should have told a teacher. On top of that i get a 4 hour detention consisting of picking up trash and helping renovate the school. I would have had an A in Algebra if it weren't for that.

The school should know these things:
1. I can't worry about other people cheating off me AND do my timed exam (I didn't finish it all) at the same time. last time I checked, it was the proctors job to check for cheaters.
2. No one tells the teacher on other students anymore unless they're the biggest loser in the country. People worry about reputation.
3. If they knew I didn't cheat, they shouldn't punish me for it.

That's my rant.

According to him, he was unaware someone was copying him. The school is obviously in the wrong.

Tell the local news station. If you're lucky, it's a slow news day, and they'll put in a three-minute clip airing your whining, which might result in a reversal of judgement.

He didn't actually say he didn't notice the cheating, just that he didn't think it should be his problem.

That seems entirely unfair.

There are ways you can get this reversed. If you're in a public school system, you basically have to go through the red tape. If you're in a private school/religious school, it can be more difficult.

Surefire way to get this reversed is to either get on the news or get your parents to threaten to bring lawyers into this. Both will shame them into reversing it.

Basically, its the proctor's job to make sure people aren't cheating. If you have to keep looking around to make sure people aren't looking off of your test, you'll become a suspect of cheating due to the constant looking.

FYI: leave number 2 out of the things the school should know. If you know someone is cheating and still allow it, its still academically unethical and makes you look bad.
