| Guest | Well, at least at our school, it's the time of the year when you pick courses for next year. What's it look like you'll be doing next year (provided you pass all your courses, of course!)? Here's my tentative list: AP Statistics AP English AP Physics AP Environmental Science German I (forgot everything in Latin, so Latin III would kill me ) Band Marine Life (NEW COURSE, I'M SO EXCITED!!!) |

| Guest | not for us yet. Probably sometime in april. Besides, it's our spring break this week. However, here's what i think i'll take. English 4 (required so i will) Adv Math topics (i'd do precal, but the teacher there is the geometry teacher, who i hated and learned nothing from) Physics (i don't think i have to do it, but since my parents want me in sciences and maths all four years of HS, i'll prolly take it) Gov/Economics (required) I'll probably take a study hall. The only other classes i need are electives, which im not sure what i'll do. Probably something in the computer courses. [ March 15, 2004, 06:44 PM: Message edited by: Marth ] |

But assuming I'm not changing schools: Physics Pre-Calculus (I've been recommended for honors, but...no) Honors British Literature Latin IV European History Sinfonia Concert Choir And if they offer it, German. |

I already have way more art credit than I need to graduate. But I want to take a visual arts course next year. That means I have to drop either orchestra or concert choir. On one hand, I'm "instrumentally challenged", so I actually have to work my butt off in orchestra to get an A, while choir is an easy GPA-booster. Plus, I have a ton of friends in choir, and I hardly know anybody in the orchestra. On the other hand, our school choir has really slid in quality. Most of the literature is way too juvenile for our own good, and the few real pieces we have get butchered by careless, expressionless performance. It's almost embarrassing to perform with that group. And it's definitely a waste of time and voice. We play real music in orchestra, and I feel like I'm still getting a lot from it musically. So, as of now, I'm leaning toward strings. But I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings. When I brought up the possibility of quitting concert choir next year, the whole lunch table pounced on me. | Guest | Alright I have my courses English 4 Psychology Western Civ/20th century history (semester each) Advanced Math topics Physics Honors Gov/Econ Study Hall Im predicting that english 4 and physics will be my hardest classes. English 4 will have the most work, physics is supposedly a hard course, but the teacher is lazy so i'll have no homework. West Civ/20th century shouldn't be too hard, although every year i've been in one of that teacher's classes, it's been a pretty crazy class. Homework or not, i have no idea. Gov/Econ, it's a new teacher (well his second year of teaching here), i'm not too sure about it. I hear its hard though. Adv. Math topics is a bull**** class which will be easy as hell. Psychology should be interesting. The teacher subbed for my web design one day and I got kicked out for laughing when he went ballistic on a kid. I thought he was kidding. I only took the class for lack of anything better to pick. As long as the teacher doesn't go crazy and there's not much work I think i'll like the class |

| Guest | Here's my course line up--so long as I don't change anything... ICA Honors--(Intermediate-College Algebra) Biology Honors Driver's Ed/PE Speech/Keyboarding--(Now I'm thinking about switching to Intro to Theater, and Keyboarding is going to be my singular blow off class, seeing as I'm already pretty well accomplished in the typing area.) Band--(Hopefully Symphonic Band [highest], because I'm second chair clarinet already in Concert Band I.) English 2 Honors Spanish 2--(I'd take honors if there WAS an honors program at level 2.) I am soooo happy I got to drop History in place of Speech and Keyboarding... My experiences with my teacher and that class have not been good this year. =P Plus, as a graduation requirement, I had to take the other two classes one way or the other. |

| Guest | Good choices. Take all of the AP you can. AP = good. I forgot exactly. 12 credits. 6 undergraduate credits to finish Computer Science and 6 graduate credits to start my grad school degree in Bioenvironmental Engineering. I think the classes I'm taking are... Artificial Intelligence Image Processing Advanced Biotransport Processes Environmental and Water Resource Systems Woo. Two years of graduate school, then I can boss Bolt around as a PhD student at MIT. Heh heh...-jay |

| Guest | Biotransport? Is that with xylem and phloem stuff in plants, or something else? Here is my definitive schedule if the damned school can get it to fit: AP English AP Statistics AP Physics B AP Chemistry AP Environmental Science AP Calculus BC (Independent Study) Latin III (Independent Study) Band Latin III is kind of funny... First of all, there was no real Latin I or II last year, just a few independent studiers who did Latin II. Secondly, most people who took Latin II last year or before have already graduated. It all ends up with the fact that there are only two people in the entire school eligible for Latin III. However, the most interesting thing is that when I went in to get work to review myself for next year, I was told that I would only have to learn about 100 pages of the textbook... Which is really sad if that's the combined work of Latin I and Latin II... It shouldn't be as hard as I think it would be; at least there are no state standards for it! People are telling me I'm committing suicide with 6 AP courses. My own reasoning is that it's probably still not going to be as hard as college. The damned annoying thing is that on top of AP tests our school requires teachers to give finals and not just give A's to everyone. Of course you know what that means; TWO big tests for each class. | Guest | 6 AP classes will keep you busy, but trust me, AP classes are a ton easier then college classes. I took 7 AP classes in college, 3 Junior year and 4 Senior year, as well as Calc III and Differential Calc my Senior year at the local community college, and it wasn't too hard. Managed an unweighted 3.8 GPA. But yeah, AP is the way to go. Oh yeah, and I'm not sure what Advanced Biotransport Processes is either. But it's an environmental class, so I'm guessing it has something to do with water transport.-jay [ April 28, 2004, 07:51 PM: Message edited by: Perrin Aybara ] |

The teacher prepared us well. We took a bunch of practice tests, and I did a decent job on all of them. But I can never trust myself with history. I got my very first B in 5th grade social studies, and I guess I haven't been able to get rid of a psychological block since then. |
