I'd like to know if other people have been told by their schools it's recommended to take three years of foreign language. 'Cuz if there's general agreement that it's not the case, then I'll toss taking a third year out the window and do some electives that I actually want to take!

Actually, yeah, a third year is recommended, at least to fufill the entrance requirements for lots of colleges.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Indeed.
I got so fed up with Spanish that I'm taking Hewbew. I'm not Jewish, but a few of my friends are, and I figured that'd be more fun taking a class with them than learning a language for "practical" purposes when in actuality I won't know enough Spanish for practical purposes even after three years because I'm stuck with a horrible teacher. Damn, that was a long sentance.

I'm a sophomore, and I've been taking Latin for four years (I'm only in Latin III, though, because my school makes 7th graders take Intro to Latin).

I'm definitely going to stick to Latin for the rest of my high school career, and I'll probably keep it up through college. I'd also like to take German, Italian, French, maybe even try Japanese again...

Our school requires 2 years, I think. I'm gonna take German, seeing as how almost everyone takes Spanish.

Once again, I find I'm the only one on VGF taking Italian. Whatever though.

I think it's required to take 3 years. But I'll go with 4 years just cause I'll have nothing better to do with my time and College will like it..at least I hope. I'm relatively good with Italian anyway.

I was required to take two years of a language. IMO, it's a waste of time for most people. If you can catch kids young and start teaching in middle school or preferably elementary school, it might be worthwhile. Even then, they'll still probably lack any degree of fluency.

We're only required to take 2 years, but it's recommended to take 3. I'm actually in my 4th year of Spanish, and I've picked up quite a bit of it.

Y recuerda, "¡Me llamo Luigi, número uno!"

I took three years, but I took Spanish I while still in Middle School, so it's like I took two years.

No necesitas los pantalones. Tengo los pantalones. No vas a tener los pantalones.

Deseo aprendar hablar japonés a la universidad. Es bueno... pero difícil. Demasiado difícil? Es posible. Necesito pensar.
