| Guest | I'd like to know if other people have been told by their schools it's recommended to take three years of foreign language. 'Cuz if there's general agreement that it's not the case, then I'll toss taking a third year out the window and do some electives that I actually want to take! |

I'm not Jewish, but a few of my friends are, and I figured that'd be more fun taking a class with them than learning a language for "practical" purposes when in actuality I won't know enough Spanish for practical purposes even after three years because I'm stuck with a horrible teacher. Damn, that was a long sentance. |

I'm definitely going to stick to Latin for the rest of my high school career, and I'll probably keep it up through college. I'd also like to take German, Italian, French, maybe even try Japanese again... |

| Guest | Once again, I find I'm the only one on VGF taking Italian. Whatever though. I think it's required to take 3 years. But I'll go with 4 years just cause I'll have nothing better to do with my time and College will like it..at least I hope. I'm relatively good with Italian anyway. --------------------------------- ~Gamer Chris ![]() |

| Guest | I was required to take two years of a language. IMO, it's a waste of time for most people. If you can catch kids young and start teaching in middle school or preferably elementary school, it might be worthwhile. Even then, they'll still probably lack any degree of fluency. |

| Guest | No necesitas los pantalones. Tengo los pantalones. No vas a tener los pantalones. Deseo aprendar hablar japonés a la universidad. Es bueno... pero difícil. Demasiado difícil? Es posible. Necesito pensar. [ March 20, 2004, 08:42 PM: Message edited by: UserGoogol ] |
