Did they make you go to all your classes every day, or only four one day and then the other four the next? And what kind of schedule do you think works the best? I personally think a Block Schedule works much better. Not only were we able to actually finish a lab in a science class without going over, but you didn't get overloaded having to complete 8 classes worth of homework each night. But then again, some people forget stuff from their other classes during the 90 or so minutes working on one. One school in my district actually did this to the extreme. For one semester, you had four classes. They were all 90 minutes long, but you only took them for that semester instead of year-long courses like my school did. And did your school give you a lunch period in your schedule, or did they pre-designate a lunch period for everyone? My high school had everyone eat lunch at the same time, but I think they're going to have to give them more than 50 minutes to eat once the school starts getting bigger (As in, more than 500 students) and they move Freshmen in within a few years. Fortunately, I'm in College now so I get to be free from when the **** hits the fan. ![]() |

I greatly preferred it over the 8-period days of grade school. Lunches (25 min) were staggered throughout 3rd period; the first lunch went immediately after period 2, the second a half-hour into period 3, & the third an hour into period 3. (So technically, period 3 was 2 hours long, but only 85 minutes were spent in class, the rest in lunch.) Which lunch you had depended on what room your 3rd class was in. And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |

We had the same core classes every day, but alternated with arts, gym, and health. I love college schedules. Not having the same classes every day. Not having homework due the next day. I feel less panicked. |

It was seven days with four classes each and all students were requred to take seven classes a semester. Basically, Monday would be 1, 2, 3, 4; Tuesday would be 5, 6, 7, 1 and so on for seven days. The following Tuesday would then be 1, 2, 3, 4 again. There was a chance to have every class in the morning and every class as the last class of the day. School started at 7:50 and first period lasted until 9:05. Second period was from 9:10 until 10:25. Then, they split grades into independent study/homeroom or lunch. You had lunch first for a month and then lunch second for a month. Lunch or IS was from 10:30 until 11:30 and IS or Lunch from 11:30 until 12:30. After Lunch, third period was from 12:35 to 1:50 and fourth period was from 1:55 until 3:10. I'm not really a morning person so 7:50 sucked. When Katrina hit, my senior year was interrupted and I was sent to "transition school" for a semester. We had to share the school we were using with other schools all over the city. The regular students used it during the day and we started school at 1:30 pm. We only had six classes (so I had to drop a credit of art) and the schedule was like this: 1:30 - 1:35pm Announcements 1:35 - 2:55pm First or Fourth period (depending on the day) 3:05 - 4:25pm Second or Fifth period 4:25 - 4:45pm Break 4:45 - 6:05pm Third or Sixth period 6:05 - 6:10pm More announcements and dismissal. Monday was 1, 2, 3; Tuesday was 4, 5, 6 and so on. |

Those classes last half of the school year, and then we get 4 new classes. Sometimes a music elective is A-B and switches every day with another class all year round. For lunch, period 3 is a half an hour longer than the other classes. If you have A lunch, you go straight to lunch after period 2. If you have B lunch, you go to lunch after you have a half an hour in your third period. If you have C lunch, you go to your third hour for an hour then lunch. If you have D lunch, you go to your class for an hour and a half then lunch. |
