Basically, the plasma incinerates the lead. It's not much like cutting, really.

The problem is the kickback vs. the Jedi's wrist.

Also the bullet may not be fully melted. Shrapnel, anybody?

Christ. Do you kids really think it's possible to burn lead? Because that's horrifying.

I'm not sure it actually is - depending on the angle you view it from it's less big around than the period at the end of this sentence, at least in the original trilogy. But even if they retconned that in the prequels, I don't think it actually cuts through anything so much as it melts it.

If lightsabers are made of light... and they resist each other... you could use a flashlight as a shield.

Hell, you could use a flashlight as a saber! Great for Jedis on a budget.

Lightsabers are made of plasma. Or something similar to it.

I'm sure it probably is, but you would need a constant stream of pure oxygen being fed into it.

I'm pretty confident in a Jedi being able to stop bullets with the force rather than a lightsabre itself. Really I think actual bullets would probably be the most deadly weapon to be used against them More to the point - have solid projectile weapons ever been employed in the SW universe? Hand-held.

^Depends--are we just talking movies and video games, here? Because if you add in the books and tabletop RPGs, you get various and sundry projectile weapons (such as the Verpine shatter gun).

I think Ben (Skywalker) uses a non-energy bullet to kill the Prime Minister of Corellia. Not sure, though.
