Queen Amidala = Padme??

Towards the end of TPM, when Padme reveals that she is the true queen in front of Boss Nass and the Gungans, Qui Gon Jinn looks at Obi Wan and they make a little smirk. Do you think the Jedi sensed this all along?

I had the feeling that Qui Gon knew, which is why I find his witty comments like "The Queen doesn't need to know." and "The Queen trusts my judgement; you should too." intruiging. He knew that she couldn't possibly reveal her identity so she would have to go along with him. Obi Wan, I'm not so sure of, but I still get the feeling that he never knew. He was never around Padme much anyway.

I just figured they were having a hard time taking Boss Nass seriously. I like your interpretation better; it makes the Jedi more tactful and diplomatic

Yes, I think Qui Gon knew all the time, and that those are indeed ironic remarks.

well, I guess it makes sense. I always thought they were trying to think of ways to hurt jar jar. But who doesn't?

I always thought it was because Qui Gon Jin had got him some of that Amidala loving the night before, and when she was in her padame disguise he could still recognize that stank !!
