Luke killed Palpatine and became the new Dark Lord, I think.

I think you're referring to the time when he went and served under Palpatine's clone (yes) to learn more about the dark side. Predictably, he became one and was only brought back because of Leia. This is part of a comic series I haven't read, and is probably the only one I actually want to read.

So, Boba Fett technically survived the sarlacc pit. What happened after that? Did he give up his bounty hunting ways to sell RotJ memorabilia on the streets of Nar Shadda?

Also, what about Itchy and Lumpy and the rest of Chewbacca's family and all that crap from the Christmas special? Whatever happened to them?

Fett survived and for a long time continued to be a bounty hunter, although he did this discreetly, using everyone's perception that he had been digested by the Sarlacc. However, he met the Mandalore, leader of the Mandalorians, and had to kill him out of mercy. Fett became the new Mandalore and led the Mandalorian Protectors. He was chilling out most of the rest of the time from 23 ABY to 40 ABY, but was hired to help stop the Yuuzhan Vong. After the threat was over, he again chilled out on Mandalore for a while, helping to rebuild after the Yuuzhan Vong had destroyed much of the planet. Then there's a whole bunch of stuff that happens in the Legacy of the Force, such as his granddaughter showing up and him training Jaina Solo to kill Jacen Solo.

That's a whole other can of worms.

Also as far as I know Lumpy, Malla, and Itchy are all still chilling on Kashyyyk, and have gotten over the death of Chewie at this point. (Interestingly enough, Chewie has a nephew who is a Jedi.)

I remember reading about Qui-gon's former padawan Xander or whatever the hell his name was in a few of the books, but never got that far. Why'd he kill himself?

Also, what the hell was up with that cyborg Maul thing attacking Obi-wan on Tatooine in that one story?

He killed himself to give Qui-Gon grief, it seems. He would rather die than be recaptured by his former master.

Also, the cyborg Maul story is pretty ****ing cool but it's apparently non-canon. He was trying to get revenge on Obi-Wan, basically.
