Anybody like Stargate?

I hope the new show doesn't suck. Looks like they've got a bigger budget than ever before, though.

I haven't seen any of it, I've been meaning to check it out though.

I've watched much of Stargate SG-1 and some of Atlantis.

I prefer the middle SG-1 episodes to the later ones and the Atlantis ones. Seems they sort of ran out of ideas and went for 'bizarrely wacky' stuff as time went on... it was entertaining, but didn't feel as solid as some of the hard-hitting mid-season plots.

Season 4 was arguably the best for SG-1, though I really liked season 8 too. I certainly enjoyed seasons 9 and 10, but they felt a little out of place to me. The show had a pretty different feel without Richard Dean Anderson, and I didn't much care for the dude that took his place. I liked Vala, though.

Yeah I watch Stargate whenever SciFi has it on(I refuse to use their new name). I like what I've seen and agree with it getting weirder as time went on and on and on.

Yeah. I think they had to up the ante, or felt they had to do that.

That's why Star Gate Atlantis is all about the wraith for a time, then gets into some strange set of plots which seem to be continuing the weirdness left over from SG-1.

The Wraith are a pretty interesting group of enemies. There was no real moral high ground on either side. They just happened to have no other food source, and they would suffer maddening hunger until they died without it.

Yeah. It's sort of too bad they got sidelined for those other plots later on.

My mom watched SG-1, but I don't think she cared for Atlantis and I don't think she's going to care for the new one.

Atlantis is a bit boring compared to the middle seasons of the old one. It's lacking Macguyver, after all.

I liked Atlantis, but they never got me to care about some of the characters. Never really cared about Teyla, or Ford (though they got rid of him for Ronin, who I did like). I thought the Genii were pretty cool too. Especially Kolya.

The Genii and Ronin were good. Teyla and co. were kinda boring, as were the Wraith, who were just too generic for my taste.

I think they waited too long in the show to introduce actual wraith characters like Todd and Michael. For the longest time, one wraith was no different from another.

I watched it a million years ago. It was pretty interesting, I liked the doctor guy, and there was some big overarcing story to do with a desert city.

...In other words, I know abosolutely nothing about it anymore, but I'd probably still watch it if I cared for TV at all (no patience for ads).

Slight bump here.

ARE YA KIDDING?

Stargate Atlantis was my favorite show before it cancelled. It was the only reason I watched TV.

Season 5 wasn't very good, either. I liked #2 best... 3 and 4 were nice too.
