Anyway I've chosen Freewebs as my base of operations for the moment but I wanted to ask around before I pay any money. So, if you have a domain name, Who is hosting it for you? How much are you paying? If anyone else has anything to say on the subject then go ahead, I'm all ears. |

If you want a free one, try out 100webspace , which is what I use. You then buy the domain at a website like register.com, and then in your 100webspace control panel, it will easily show how to link it to your website. Register sells .com domains for around 25 dollars a year I believe. Your host doesn't have to be where you get your domain, unless you have a really crappy host. (I'm pretty sure freewebs does that) The price of hosting is free, and it's better than freewebs pay service, except for the lack of a domain included [ December 07, 2004, 03:06 PM: Message edited by: Link2000 ] |

I only have 1 bone to pick with Freewebs, lately, a lot of times I have tried to log on, it has been down. ![]() |

Never tried it, but I can't imagine it would be bad. |

The first year was free, but now they charge 20 bucks a year. All it provides is the domain name - you need to have a server somewhere else.-jay |

It truly is a super host... although you won't understand what I'm saying, it's got a bunch of plans with varying space and BW. The free one has everything you need, too -- CGI, PHP (gasp), FTP, .htaccess, Frontpage, SSL, SQL databes, everything. It seemed too good to be true, and I'm amazed it's not. |

They operate under a bunch of different names for whatever reason. Their main name is 100webhost.com though. [ December 11, 2004, 07:44 PM: Message edited by: Link2000 ] |
