Of course not. MGS2 might very well be Snake's last game (unless he magically stops aging or they do a prequel), but I think the series will continue in some form (even if it is in the next gen of consoles).

^I hope so, Hideo has maintained that MGS 2 is the last of the series, the guy wants to move on to other projects. For his sake, he should keep doing what he is good at

It'd be stupid to kill it after the success it has seen. Dumber things have happened, but it's usually companies like Nintendo, Sega, or Acclaim behind the wheel.

Sega is off that wagon, their quietly changing their image, but still leave a lot to be desired.

Perhaps, Hideo meants no more sequels but prequels and side-story game. Take away Hideo and its MGS franchise there and Konami could be considered a has-been and dumb(for letting go of the Treasure team)

They'd still have things like Castlevania and DDR. Konami didn't build their reputation on Metal Gear. To the contary, they ignored it for 8 years. Obviously, axing it would be a hit to them regardless.

Castlevania, that reminds me what's happening to that franchise. Last I heard of the franchise was the cancelled DC version which I was really looking forward to until it was politely stated "indefinite hold". Thanks

Seems right now they're focusing Castlevania on GBA, but we'll hear about a console version soon enough.

Everything was put on indefinite hold.
