For real? Damn, this game could have really used being released earlier, hope FFIX doesn't kill PSO with its hype yet. The good thing is, it doesn't have any competition on the GC side, bad thing maybe interest were lost along the way? Thanks alot Nintendo, maybe ST will get fed up soon.
anyways, I found an article, so Nintendo does believe in online gaming and the way they say it, seems reluctant at that.
Quote:
Nintendo executives confirmed to Reuters that the company will offer online gaming on GameCube this Fall. Nintendo will offer dial-up and broadband adapters for GCN at an MSRP of $34.95. The first online title will be - drumroll please - Phantasy Star Online. Long rumored to be in release limbo pending Nintendo's online plans, PSO will see the light of day this Fall on GCN. The company's online plans will not be highly marketed or touted. Instead the online feature will be an extention of gameplay. Nintendo will not charge extra online fees or collect revenue from online games. "Nintendo's position is that online is a feature to extend the console and the gameplay, but in and of itself online does not make a game," Jim Merrick, a technical director for Nintendo's online efforts said. This is certainly great news for GameCube fans, and we'll definitely see hear more concrete information regarding Nintendo online starting next week. |
