Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood

My NP came, and according to the cover, there's some new Sonic RPG info. I've skimmed it, and so far, I've seen the following familiar characters:

Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Rogue, Big(!?)

There's also a new, rather robotic character named Shade, and apparently it's a "she". Oh, and Tail's Workshop is your HQ where you switch out party members.

I'll give ye guys more as I read. Hopefully this isn't all old.

I see this as three things:
1. An excuse to make a new sonic game
2.Final Fantasy Sonic style
3: A bad idea on Sega's part.

In the end, the game will probably end like all the games from Sonic Adventure onwards.

From what I've read:

Shadow is also a party member, and Big may be given more IQ points.

There will be over 11 party members.

Rings serve as a currency., to buy stuff, like new shoes.

You use your party members to help navigate the field. For example, Amy can break a boulder.

Battle is turned based: your fighters go when everyone's commands have been entered. Special moves are done with touch screen. One has you do Elite Beat-like commands.

The plot is the following: Sonic is on a vacation, after saving the world from Eggman years prior. He gets a message from Tails that states that Knuckles has been kidnapped by a group called the "Marauders", and that 6/7 of the Chaos Emeralds have gone missing. Sonic then returns home. At first, it seems like Eggman is the main villain, but really it's something bigger.

Eggman will have an important, dark role as well:

"Eggman's been relegated to comic relief for a while now, but we really wanted to build him back up as a credible adversary. And there's a twist centered around Eggman that goes back to the franchise's early days that Sonic fans will not expect." -Miles Holmes

There are two "acts". The first has familiar areas, like Green Hill. Not much is given about Act II, but apparently it takes place in a dark, parallel universe, where the tone of the game gets darker.

There will be fully animated cut-scenes for important moments. Normally, you'll have interactive dialogue, where you get to choose what you wnat Sonic to say.

I'm still pulling for the Sonic game which is a side-scroller, with all four main characters playable at the same time.

Oh, and "Shade" is wearing armor that looks rather high-tech. She has a long tail, making me think she's a lizard of some kind.

^^^Always good to try a new formula.

I like the story ideas they're giving, like a dark Eggman.

NP gave basically all of the info I have. A more "dark" Eggman was mentioned: by that, he'll actually do evil crap, and apparently it'll relate to a plot in the older series. Death Egg returns?

^You don't know that though. It actually sounds like a good idea with more details. You guys need to stop saying it's gonna suck with the little information we have right now. It might actually turn out pretty decent. Fact is, there's too little information right now to base your judgements yet. It sounds good that they are gonna explain what turned Eggman so evil now.

Last Sonic games I played (Shadow the Hedghog & some gay racing game) sucked. Sonic's never gonna make it in platformers but he's too cool to forget. So, a RPG is all that can save him. And it will.

You are an idiot. Shadow the Hedgehog really wasn't that bad, and Sonic Riders ruled.
Saying Sonic is never going to make it in platformers is the dumbest statement I have ever heard. Sega might manage to pull it's head out of it's ass and make a really good Sonic game or even if they just re made Sonic Adventure 2 it would be something.

Sonic already did make it in platformers; then they started making the 3D ones & screwing stuff up. Although, I hear Secret Rings is good, and Unleashed is getting positive press.
