The only way Sonic is going to make a comeback is if they release Sonic & Knuckles on the Virtual Console.

...Alright, that wouldn't really count as a comeback, but they should still do it. It would be great if Sega released a good Sonic game this year.

In my opinion, Unleashed and Dark Knight both look like they're going to be awful. I think the Sonic RPG is going to be amazing, though. However, only time will tell if any of them are good or not.

The only way Sonic can make a comeback in my book is if they make a game different from the others, stopped trying to make the series "Mature" by sticking weapons in character's hands, and fixed things that are dragging the series down.

Oh, and made Sonic Adventure 3 to further advance the actual storyline.

sonic and the black knight IS the rpg. the sword game has no title yet.

sonic unleashed is the only one that looks remotly good because (gasp) is actually has old-school sonic gameplay, even if there is a werewolf gimmic. half a good sonic game is still better then ****

Um, the actual storyline has been advanced since then (sonic heroes, shadow the hedgehog, etc.)

If the RPG fails, it means that not even an outside source can't make a good Sonic Game, and the problem is the Franchise itself.

This point has already been disproven due to

1. Like, The first few games were successful! if those can be successful and modern ones can't it just means the direction the series has taken is bad (and sonic team has collective downs)

2. sonic advance series wasn't actually made by sonic team and those were Ok.

3. If the outside source is making an rpg and it fails it just means that that particular outside source can't make sonic RPGs

My take on the three:

Unleashed is the one with Were-Sonic? Bah! Like TG said, I think this one should be good because it will bring back the classic gameplay.

Dark Knight... ugh, I just imagine Sonic with a sword going against the Dark Knight guy from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, lol. Just seems silly to me. Eggman better not be in this game either. As Tazy mentioned, if Eggman is going to be a secondary villain they may as well completely do away with him in this game. He doesn't deserve to be a secondary villain.

I'm all for badass dark eggman that the 'rumors' seem to be saying. It may finally redeem Eggman after all these games that seemed to make a mockery out of him. If the battle sequence is more action-paced than turn-based (like Chrono Trigger's battle system) then I think gameplay will be enjoyable. And story sounds like it'll be decent too.
