It seems to favor style over substance. However, the storyline is intriguing. It is somewhat psychotic and leaves much to the imagination but doesn't leave anything for exploration. The characters are diverse and downright messed up. No matter whether you liked it or not, props are given mainly because there is no other game like this. Now onward to the disscussion. It's obvious that players will be split between love and hate for the game. Where are you? Did you like it or loath it? Have you beaten it? As for me, I'm somewhere caught in the middle but the storyline outweighs anything else for me. I love me a good storyline. So I rather like this game. I haven't beaten it yet. I'm somewhere in the third chapter saved in one of the Harman's rooms right in the center alley filled with Giant Smiles. Oh, what fun...though I have to admit, this game has the potential to piss me off and I just turn it off and leave it at that until I get board again. Thank you, Alltaia |

When I saw it moving and the awesome stylish blood effects I thought I was gonna get it, but then when it finally came out I never even noticed, and was amazed when I went into a game shop over christmas and found it lying there. Might pick it up if I can find it cheap somewhere, I imagine it'll be worth it. |

It's a game that you have to view as a work of art rather than a commodity, and on that basis everything about it works. As with any good work of art, there are several ways to perceive this game, and Suda 51 was very careful to allow for this. There are no concrete answers, and that is bound to upset some people; however, when you keep an open mind, you'll find it's much better that way. It's difficult to describe what I mean without using specific examples, but I wouldn't dare discuss any plot points or thematic elements when I'm trying to convince people who haven't played the game to play it. To all of you, I can only offer this: keep an open mind, leave no stone unturned (even the unorthodox style of gameplay strengthens some of the game's themes!), and don't play this game if you want a commodity for entertainment (those who do will be sorely disappointed). |
