Are you going to get a PS3?

I thought I would get a general response out of the visitors here at the Playstation forum. Before I give my response, let me just say that I am a big Sony fan. When I saw for the first time that the PS3 would be $600, I thought that was too much. Blu-Ray or not, the price to me is outrageous for right now which is why i'm not going to purchase one at this time, but perhaps in the next year... not trying to sound like a cheap-o, haha. I'm in college too, first year, so I suppose that's a factor. What do you guys think about it? Will you get it when it comes out or wait or not buy it at all?

Well, I've been saving for the next console since last year. I have way over the amount need to buy it. So yeah, I'm going to get it as soon as it arrives.

Yeah, that's a really smart game plan. I think if I would have been thinking over the past year and not buying fast food, DVD's, and games, I would be sitting pretty in the pocketbook. (I'm not an overweight person

) But in all seriousness, what about games that will be available at launch? What games will you guys get?

Yeah, I learn about saving when the PS2 came out originally.

^^I sold my DS and 18 DS games, along with a gallon zip-lock bag full of GBA games, for a Premium PSP and Star Wars BattleFront 2, Daxter, and Splinter Cell Essentials. 1 was on all the other systems, and I had it for Xbox, Daxter just plain sucked, and Splinter Cell wasn't anything new. I sold it back to GameStop, and got a new Blue DS and Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and Nintendogs, all of which I had sold before. I would rather have the DS and three kiddish games,(still awesome though) rather than that piece of Kaz's ass.

Also, I sold my PS2 and 12-ish games for an X-box and 2 games, Halo 1 and KOTOR. Can't say I'm dissapointed. I have a 360 now, and I'm probably going to buy a PS2 for Guitar Hero and Kingdom Hearts. Those are the only (in my opinion) good system-exclusives.

Go ahead, flame me, but unless I'm THROTTLED by the PS3, I probably won't ever get the PS3.

I am not getting a PS3.

One. The Wii is coming in '07. And I want to save my money for it.
And two, it sucks up alot of power.

I think you both have some really interesting points. The Wii looks interesting to me, even though people claim it's going to be worthless, I don't think so. I have a 360 and the three big games i'm looking forward to are Smackdown Vs Raw 2007, Halo 3, and Grand Theft Auto 4. Nothing is exclusive to the PS3 anymore. Yoshifreak, sounds like you've had quite the quest battling through systems/games to find your content level, i'm glad you found that through buying/selling/trading. The Doctor, people should take after you and know when and how to save. I think that's a smart business.

If you don't mind my asking, what were your 12 games?

I beat Ratchet and Clank a couple nights ago, and thought it was good.

Most people will beat you up for not liking Disgaea. To a lesser extent, some of the the other Nippon Ichi games like La Pucelle, Phantom Brave, and Makai Kingdom.

What I played of Gradius V and Devil May Cry looked promising.

I liked Mega Man X7, except I'm the only person in my time zone who did.

Everyone likes Mega Man X8.

I've never played it, but I should mention how Wyborn wouldn't shut up about Shadow of the Colossus.

Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! Hop in line and follow them there!

I probably will, just not at launch. Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy are the main reasons I'll be getting one. There's not really one particular game that makes me want buy one though. Which is how I ended up getting a PS2. *hugs her copy of Jak II*

But, yeah, will get, not immediately. I have almost $1,200 worth of stuff that I want for Christmas, and close to a hundred dollars worth of games to buy in the next two months. So, I'll be broke, and unable to beg others to buy it for me.

I would get a PS3 if it had anything I remotely wanted to play. The cost doesn't really bother me, but the lack of anything impressive does. Where the cost does come into play is that the thing is going to be extremely scarce here (400,000 for NA) and retailers are going to force bundles on people. Somehow, buying $1000 worth of crap doesn't seem worth the effort of waiting in line for a 5am opening.

I don't even have enough money for a Wii since I had to replace my DS. My brother will probably beg the hell out of my mom for a PS3, since for some reason he doesn't like the Wii (There's something about the Wii that nobody at my brother's school doesn't like). Anyway, I'd buy it for the sake of MGS4, which looks awesome.

I don't know, there's just something that is telling me I shouldn't get it yet. I mean sure, blu-ray is a $1000 value, it's only $600. Only $600 to a freshman in college is a lot of money, and I have to focus on that. PS3 i'm sure will be cool but the biggest reason of all why i'm not going to get it, like I already said, is that my favorite games coming out will be on both systems. That's just my taste of style though. I don't know if anyone else feels that way.
