It's moved over 30 million units so far and is projected to hit 50 million by the end of this year. Nintendo Gamecube is projected to hit 50 million by March 2005 - 2.25 years later. XBox sales look weak compared to Gamecube.

Well, PS2 has been out a year longer than the cube and box, so that gives it an advantage. Still, even if they were all released at the same time, I bet PS2 would still be winning (but not by as much as it is now)

Yes. But with Nintendo's successful launch no doubt Sony will have competition as for Microsoft they just lost 750 million dollars this year.

Its not going anywhere and its going to keep getting games. As for it being unstoppable i dont think so. It doesnt have many good games coming out this year. I see Gamecube selling like PS2 sold last year and PS2 maybe 3/4s of last years in this holiday season.

Though I will say that PS2 has a secure place in the competition and may remain so for a long time to come, I still think its quite possible for it to fall back into third place and loose its current strength. IMO, there's no such thing as an unstoppable console.

^Yes. The only game there that will even slightly raise some interest is GTA. And I heard its also coming out for PC too, so its not exclusive.

^ have you even played gta:3? anyway it is exclusive to the ps2. when its exclusive it is to consoles not pc's. anyway i am pretty sure that they won't make vice city or others on the pc.

Jeez. GTA: VC WILL come out on PC and PS2. GTA3 will not come to X-Box or GBA til 2004 (no longer will anybody care), and GTA: VC WILL NOT suck like London (believe it or not, they have a different team making gta3 then made london and the first gta).

=/ Its hard to say, I think the GCN will do much better in sales this Xmas season than it did last year, b/c it will have a dozen or so games that everyone is looking forward to. And Nintendo is getting its act together and finally getting stuff everyone wants. But its hard to say if it will go past the ps2 or catch up to it. the next gta will again push the ps2 waaaaaaaay ahead of the game. Well see.

A GTA in London? I've never heard of that one. Unless it's this one called "The Getaway" that I've heard about. If it is, even though it's based in London, it's not coming out in the UK until October. Is it The Getaway or are you talking about a different game?

Anyway, I think Gamecube could catch up to PS2, but it's gonna be a hell of a challenge for them. All the top dog games, like MGS:2, GTA3, and FFX are on PS2. And PS2 going to 3rd place? That's just hilarious. 2nd to GCN, possibly. But PS2 being beaten by X-Box?!? That's never gonna happen.

^it could you never know. It's not likely but it could happen considering X-box and Gamecube have better lineups.

I dont see how a gaming system could get better than the PS2. If theres something better than 128 bit games,I would be shocked. Ps2 is a lot better than the XBOX for lots of reasons.
Like the DVD capabilities. For Xbox, they require you to buy a 150 dollar remote to watch dvds on it. And one controller for the Xbox has 50 buttons!!!!
For the Ps2,the DVD capabilities are built in,and you dont have to buy an expensive remote. Also, the controller is not as complicated. I remember when I got the N64,I couldnt move because I was used to the directional pad. Not a stick!

Oh,and theres already a FF character exactly like Mr.T. His name is Barret. Anyone ever thought of that? The similarities are uncanny! In fact,Tifa looks like someone also on the A team. I forgot her name.

A more powerful system is always possible. The PS2 may be 128 bit, but the system is a year older than the Xbox and Gamecube. Both newer systems have less "bits" than the PS2, but he systems are a little more powerful. Game consoles haven't hit there limit yet.

I can't exactly give a whole list of games that are coming to PS2, but trust me, PS2 has an excellent array of games...If you are just getting in to the game thing you can still play PS games on this thing, which is a huge boost...Im not a PS2 fanboy here, im just being real. PS2 has some incredible series, GTA, DMC 1,2, Silent Hill/s, Grand Turismo, MGS1,2, and other games...Many many games. It's not unstoppable but it has many more games coming to it, I mean quality games, right now than Xbox or Gamecube.

Better lineups? No, that is 100% wrong...Hey lets see here. GTA 3, Grand Turismo, MGS2, DMC, TM BLACK, FFX, ICO, SH 2, Maximo, SR 2...All great games, right off the bat, if you buy it now. Not to mention the games in the future for it. Gungrave, Xenosaga, Onimusha2, Shinobi, GTA VC, SH 3, Red Faction 2, and any other games I missed. Yikes, that is very hard to beat.

GCN does have a nice lineup, but it doesn't even compare to Ps2's.
ED, SSBM, RS2, Pikmin, Wave Storm, REmake...Ok, that's all.
Some to watch. Zelda, MP, SMS, SFA, Kameo, Thornado, Too Human, PSO1&2, TalesP, and that's about it..

So the games that are already available make the difference...DONT BASH ME HERE...I have both systems and I know that some of my info may be incorrect but I'm not perfect. Most of it is true, actually I'm more ignorant about PS2, but I know the truth...Not to mention the DVD player...Im sorry, but that's my opinion.

He probably means a better future lineup. But IMO, it's too late for Xbox or Gamecube to catch up. Maybe next time.
