Not Just The PS3: Sony's PSP Sales Stink Too (SNE)

So, with Sony's sales in gaming dropping this generation it looks like they're cutting their losses, and a possible successor to the PSP along with it. This coupled with the cutting of 8000 jobs, it really looks like this isn't the year for Sony.

PSP had a pretty decent year gamewise, but it hasn't had close to as many good games as the DS.

^ PSP 3000. I think that was more of a revamp, like the DS Lite was.

Most people broke the official firmware and then pirated/stole/made games for it, so it obviously can't make Sony much money.

Trust me, if it did well enough, there'd be one as soon as the PSP became obsolete. At this point, I will not see one for sure...

Maybe they should've focused more on portable-friendly and affordable games. You can't win the portable market with just muscle.

You kidding? The US economy's been crap the whole time the DS and Wii were out, too, but they're still selling well.

Besides, the PSP is doing just as badly here in West Australia where the economy is currently fantastic.

^ Well, the poor economy here may have contributed to its poor sales a little bit, but video game sales in general are up here in the U.S, even during this recession, so Sony just straight failed. They can't really blame the economy, at least not too much.
