Where is Metal Gear Solid 5?

N4G.com : Kojima not directing Rising, only Peace Walker

When I first heard about two new Metal Gear games, I thought one would be a spin-off, and the other would be MGS5. Well, seems we got a spin-off and a prequel which isn't MGS5.

Though I am excited about Metal Gear Solid: Rising for PS3, the only thing about Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for PSP that excites me, is the story. The gameplay resembles MGS3 too much to me. And the problem with Rising is that Kojima is hardly involved.

So I have to wonder, when will MGS5 come out? I'm guessing the distant future at this rate.

But we can at least talk about how cool Raiden is. I mean, everyone hated him in MGS2 but now everyone is excited about his own spin-off.

I, unlike the unexcited, boring, IRHP, am looking forward to Peace Walker very much. It looks like quite a kickass game.

I can't talk about MGS without talking about how much I hate its filthy guts, and nobody wants to see that. All I know is that I'd heard the series was over.

^^ It just seems like a rehash of MGS3 to me, that's all. I am actually excited, for story purposes.

^ Wow, didn't know anyone hated the MGS games. They're great, but surely you have your reasons. And the story of Solid Snake is supposedly the only thing that's over. Which I hope isn't true.

Solid Snake is supposedly going to die,

and now the spot-light's on Raiden. Yes, Rising is a spin-off, but it also seems like it's going to be a sequel to the Metal Gear Solid series.

Kojima wanted to end the series at MGS2. Then at 4. I heard that he wouldn't do another one unless they used one of his ideas for the story. So I guess they did.

^^ Just what the hell are you talking about? If it's dead, why does it have two simultaneous spin-offs, and a huge following hoping for a fifth installment in the main series?

And really, though saying MGS is dead is a ridiculous statement, at least it is technically debatable. The fact that many games have 5+ sequels is just...a commonly known fact.

I was going to create a large family tree of the Mario series starting with Donkey Kong and all its later spinoffs but then I'd waste hours of time.
