Final Fantasy IX Confirmed for U.S. PSN

As many anticipated, the classic RPG will be heading to the PlayStation Store as a download in the near future. According to a recent PlayStation Blog post, faithful and casual consumers of Final Fantasy alike can expect its arrival "soon."

While the confirmation comes as no surprise, especially after the announcement that it's coming to Japan, this is the first official confirmation we've seen for U.S. gamers.

Final Fantasy IX wasn't the best-selling title in the long-running series of fantasy RPGs, but it did touch fans with its simple, back-to-basics design that honors the series' past.

Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII are available as PSOne Classics on the US PlayStation Store. Both are $9.99. No US price for Final Fantasy IX was revealed.

Already have the PS1 game. Though I suppose this makes it a heluva lot easier for people who don't to get to it.
