'Disgaea 4'

Bought it a week ago when it came out, and started in on it yesterday. It's dead good so far---looks to have the same infinitely deep tactical/RPG gameplay and crazy-ass whimsical story and characters as its predecessors. Highly recommend.

Me no PS3

Also, I loved the first one (hence the avvy) but I put so much time into it I can't bear the thought of diving into item worlds any more.

^Understandable. That stuff is fun, but can get a little repetitive.

You know, I haven't gotten a new PS game for a while... so I'm willing to check this out. I'll blame you, Boo, if it's so good that I neglect other things for it, though. Unfortunately, our expected release date isn't until 3rd November...

^Have you played any of the earlier models? Because they're a hoot, too, and you can get em for a song. (Assuming that's your preferred medium of exchange, of course.)

I swear on my grandmothers life I posted in here yesterday......

anyway......I've pre-ordered an UK copy, and I should have a US copy arriving tomorrow....I'm currently working through 3 to recomplete it, as well as unlock the Masked Hero class (never unlocked it).....(also working on the Angel class in Disgaea on on the DSPSP )

Disgaea 4 looks interesting, from what I've seen so far, I've already got a guide for it. But just using it to look at skills, and how to unlock new classes.

Although is it me or does the new lead character look like and older version of Mao with dyed hair?

What I'm thinking of at the moment is to put a thread on here, showing my progress through the game. But I might just update this thread.

Edit: Wooo, it arrived today. Got a copy with a figure of Fuka. (The Girl with a prinny cap, and a baseball bat). Go to turn on the PS3, and need to do a system update. Ggggagaah! But at least it's here.

Haha. So I'm in my first fight now. Bringing out a fighter from the base panel "Time to bust some balls!" (Yup, he actually says that.)

Story isn't bad so far. Am enjoying it
Spoiler Below
So basically Lord Val/Valvatorez was a great vampire, until he made a promise (currently unknown) Now he eats only Eats Sardine, and works to train Newly Made Prinnies into the slaves they are. He has a Steward called Fenrich, and if you can't guess by his name, he's a werewolf. The Tutorial for battle is basically the last lesson these bunch of prinnies need to know. The rest of your team so far consists of a Fighter (Male), Red Skull, Healer, a Catsaber, and two Prinnies.

So this is my team so far.
Valvatorez Lv 7
Fenrich Lv 7
Verne (Male Warrior) Lv 6
Vivianna (Female Healer) Lv 7
Prometheus (Red Skull) Lv 5
Melody (Thief) Lv4
Krystalla (Blue Mage) Lv 3
Grace (Female Warrior) Lv 2

Last two am currently grinding. Just finished 1.4. Most people have skills except the last three (blade rush, Boulder crush, etc) also....
Spoiler Below
Fenrich, y u no learn special move yet?

Hidden spoiler hides important question
Spoiler Below
Axel, y u no fight? :_-(

I grabbed this at some point last week. Just staring up chapter 7 or so and I do have to say, Axel is still probably the damn funniest character in Disgaea.

No. But if I like this one, I will definitely try another one... of the others, does one particular one stand out?

I'd prefer to exchange marshmallows for goods but Kargath once told me that 'currency' isn't accepted in any part of the world. YET.

You might as well get the first one, Missy, as I know you've got a DS and there's a version of it for that.

^Ooh, nice one. Forgot about that---was only thinking of the console versions.

First one was my favourite in the series.

First one is always the best, have it on every platform. PS2, PSP and DS.

So I'm now in the second chapter. Team is the same as last time, but all Level 10.

Question about Fenrich. When does he learn his first skill. (Not weapon skill, class skill?.) Should he have one by now? Not that it matters cos he's a beast.

I know a lot of people don't like 2. 1 or 3 is great. 1 is pretty messed up on stats (If I recall correctly I beat the game with two people who were vastly underleveled.....), but even then if was quite fun.

Also 1 has a better story over 3. Loving 4's story.

1 definitely has the best story, although I really wouldn't say 3 was that far behind. 2 was kind of meh, but like I said before, Axel is damn hilarious. He and Gordon are probably my favorites story-wise.

Etna (1) , Prinnies (All) , Axel (2 and 4), Yukimaru (2) , Almaz (3) , Mr Champloo (3), Fenrich (4) , Valvatorez (4) are the best!

So I'm now on Episode three, Act 3 (this levels a *****!), also extremely hate Fuka (although her special attack is awesome).

Leveling up Shaman, Archer, and Gunner to decent levels.

My team so far.
Valvatorez Lv 19 (Main Character I actually care about, sorry Mao, Laharl,....not sorry to Adell.)
Fenrich Lv 17 (does kill things as well as I thought, but I still like him, "swift power shot", could do with a better name, love the move.)
Verne (Male Warrior) Lv 18 (y u no better!!)
Vivianna (Female Healer) Lv 18
Prometheus (Red Skull) Lv 19
Melody (Thief) Lv16
Krystalla (Blue Mage) Lv 18
Grace (Female Warrior) Lv 19 (she kills things, she was 19 before everyone else was.)
Fuka Lv 17
Metsuki (Archer) Lv 9 (See why I'm training these three now.)
Vash (Gunner) Lv 8
River (Shaman) Lv 4 (recently made last night.)

Also, is it just me or have they nerfed Thief's stats. The thief was a beast with a gun in 3, now she kinda sucks.

Wow, is it me or is this game harder than the last Disgaeas?

Seriously, I breezed through One with little grinding. Two was pretty much a cake walk. Three I grinded a little and then walked through it. But I'm really struggling with Four. Mainly map 3-6 The Forbidden Cell. Seriously, Everyone is very underleveled. I can barely reach the Zombies on this map.

Highest person is Valvatorez Level 26, and it goes down hill from there. Grinding the item world for the last few days with Imperial Seals (I try and have everyone with one.) But I still sucked at that map.....Grrrr. :@
