Dark Souls

I've been hearing a lot from my guild leader in WoW about how much he enjoys this game. Hard as hell, merciless, and downright mean? I foresee my first title should I ever obtain a PS3.

It's on XBOX too, IIRC.

I'm told it's an extremely grind-heavy game though - you need to farm souls for hours on end to get stronger, and that comes with the chance that at any point you could get one-shotted and lose hours and hours of progress.

^Easily averted by visiting a bonfire. (the best soul-grinding spot in the game is really close to one) If you die you can get your stuff back by visiting where you died anyway. Also not much grinding is needed to beat the game the first time around, though if you want to get the best weapons and reach a high soul level...

Expect to get mad a lot. Just remember to not get cocky even as you get stronger, as basically every enemy in the game is capable of killing you. It's a great game overall.

Eh, Diablo II was a huge grindfest, but it's still one of the best hack'n'slash RPGs of all time.
