Three words: Final Fantasy Tactics.
And if you're visiting someone without a PS2, but they have a PSOne, you can play it on that.

Spiderman 2 is great, so is ESPN Football 2k5 (only 20 bucks!), and the GTA games are good also.

Well it depends. What do you like?

Here's a few on my must get of any nebies to PS2 games.
Dark Cloud. a good RPG that has been over looked by a lot of people, still has good graphics of something that came out when PS2 was released. The Sequel to it also is a good game.
Tony Hawks Undergrounds is a good skateboarding game, and the sequel is out soon.
WWE: Here Comes The Pain. is a good wrestling game which has a follow up on the way.
Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberity. is a sneaking game, a brilliant game, also sequel out soon too.
GTA3 and Vice City. If you want me to give you reasons why you should get these games your dumbass.

Um.... *looks at his three towers full of games* and your asking me to pick my favs.

Gee..... Well other than the ones that I said.
.hack//infection(mutation/and whatever the other two parts are called) is another well made RPG that never good mentioned in mags.

I'll tell you what you best bet is, go to a rent store like blockbusters and have a look at some games. Works for me.

Dance Dance Revolution Max 2. And a pad, of course. Simply amazing.

I also liked FFX.. it's one of those games that if you like linear plots and about 100 hours of listening to the same music looping, you'll like it.

GT3 was a good racing game..

I haven't played much else, but I have a few more games I'm going to try out.

Also, Prince of Persia was good for GCN and I'm sure it's equal on PS2.. I played the PS2 demo once.

For pick-up-and-play carnage, GTA:3 or VC are excellent choices.

For RPG heaven, FFX or Dark Chronicles will keep you happy.

And if you enjoy crapping your pants, I suggest Fatal Frame/Project Zero. (Same game, different name.)

It really depends on your tastes. Tell me what kind of games you like, and I can help you out with that.
