Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Birmingham, AL Gender: Posts: 13,178 Thanks: 965 Thanked 663 Times in 386 Posts | Official 2006 NFL Draft Thread Draft Tracker: http://www.nfl.com/draft/drafttracker/round/round1 Discuss: Most surprising thing for me was Bush not going #1, Houston made a huge mistake, sure Williams is a good DE, but he won't do for this team what Bush would have done. Now New Orleans has him, and Benson and co. would be dumb as hell to let him go. Young is a Titan, don't have too many opinoins on that. I can see why Jets took Furgeson over Lienhart, and that's because they are concerned about the line. There are still plenty of QBs left in the draft (not on the level of Lienhart/Young/Cutler, but still work-withable), I'd rather make sure whoever my QB will be is protected than have some poor rook or young guy come in and get torn apart by defenses...see Brooks Bollinger and Chad Pennington. Pretty good move IMO to build the line. Lienhart ultimately ended up in Arizona, somewhere I saw him going if he was passed over by NYJ (which happened), regardless of how good he is, he could still learn a few from Warner and Denny. I want to see where: LenDale White, Williams (Memphis), and Shockley go, those are the main three I've been keeping up with that are left over in the draft. __________________ Season 1- Coming to a Youtube near you....whenever |

I see Jacksonville winning that division, anyway. And my favorite team in that division, Tennessee, has Vince Young now, so they have versitility on their side. I'm a little upset that the Jets took some linemen. But I don't blame them, this time, as they lost Mawae. I wish they took Shockley, though. I'm a huge fan of his and of Georgia. I hate Dallas even more now. T.O. was one thing, but a linebacker from Ohio State, one of my least favorite schools? Hell, no. They also took Fassano, a TE who played for my least favorite college of all, Notre Dame, and who played for Verona, one of my former high school's biggest rivals. -CSM |

They missed their window of opportunity, and at this rate it looks like Eli will be the first Manning to get to a Super Bowl. NY's moves made sense. Leinhart's the sexy pick for them, and really I would have pulled the trigger on him first, but Fergeson and the Center they drafted are going to have an immediate impact. Granted, they have a dead-armed Pennington, a washout from Washington, and an aging Martin, but they'll be set to restock the main O positions next year. |

Anyway, yeah, I have to agree with Lurch on NYJ, build the line first, they can definetly get Shockley fourth round, or trade for some other QB. If they had the opportunity, I'm sure Williams (memphis) would have been an option for them. Frisco is having a nice draft, but they won't be higher than 3rd in that division. The main problem in Arizona is no ground game, other than that, they're a 2003-2004 NFC version of the Colts rating wise. (1st in passing O, last in passing D). Edgerrin James and (still have to get this but) a better offensive line can have Arizona fighting with Seattle for the division. NFC South is gonna be tough, plain and simple, Falcons made defensive upgrades, Abraham is a good pick-up seeing as Brady Smith retired; Milloy is a huge upgrade at safety......anyone is; Gandy is a plus at center, and I can't remember what guard we picked up, didn't really pay attention. Roddy White and Michael Jenkins will grow, Roddy looked promosing to me at the end of last year, all we need is a solid 3rd WR (Finneran or Dez). Panthers got Keyshawn, who isn't as good as he used to be, but he has Delhomme and complements Steve Smith, who pisses me off already, they drafted Williams, who hopefully for my sake, won't be good in Carolina. Saints got Reggie Bush and Drew Brees, scary enough for me, finally, someone who can get a pass to Joe Horn and Stallworth....consistantly. The Buccaneers, to me, didn't have the loudest offseason, but I think they're still dangerous, a contender for the division. Oooooh it's gonna be exciting, and that's only one division. __________________ Season 1- Coming to a Youtube near you....whenever | |

Lets face it, while the SEC produced a few Mannings, they generally aren't known as a QB hotbed. Jets grabbed the dude from Oregon, who had a knee surgery, but he's a better QB than Shockley. The NFC South is likely going to have the NFC Super Bowl team come from it. The NFC East looks amazing, but they built in free agency and will have some age problems in the next few years. South is basically young and going to hang around for a while. NFC North is building to be at least a two team race. No faith in the Vikings longevity, especially behind brittle brad johnson with no glaring stars anywhere. Millian and the Lions started drafting D, but they're the Lions and will continue to suck. Bears wasted the draft and only took D players. Way to not address needs. Packers had the best draft as they shored up their Linebacking corps. NFC west is trash. San Fran is not committed to winning long-term and do not have a plan. Arizona is on the rise and Seattle is on the fall. Simply put, Denny Green is a better coach than the Walrus. St. Louis has an identity crisis. AFC is a different bag. West looks to be between the Chiefs, Broncos, and possibly Chargers. The Raiders are still irrelivant. The AFC East is open. The Pats didn't seem to restock, Jets don't have the pieces, Miami has holes, and Buffalo will eventually move to LA (sorry Bills fans). AFC South is going to Jacksonville for the next few years. Clots missed their window and will hang around in the division/playoff race, but they're on the decline. Houston will move to San Antonio in the next five years. And Tennessee, who cares? AFC North is Steeler country. Bungles look like they could do some damage again. Hell, the Brownies could actually be the sleeper team in the AFC, although the Denver Broncos taking Culter threw a wrench into the works (I'm sure Shyguy's pissed). Ravens looked like they restocked. This could be a seriously competitive division immediately. |

I never liked the Bills (obviously I'm a Jets fan), but the Bills moving to LA will really screw with the division, not to mention the fact that lots of Buffalo fans will be pissed. -CSM |

If New Orleans moved to LA, they were planning to stick STL in the NFC South, and NO in the West. If the Bills move, Kansas City or Denver would be the top candidates to switch division so you don't have that coast to coast flight twice a year. __________________ Season 1- Coming to a Youtube near you....whenever |
