Joe Torre fired from NYYs for Piniella?

ESPN.com - MLB - Report: Torre won't survive Yanks' collapse, to be fired

Major League Baseball : News : Major League Baseball News

Wow, just...wow. This isn't confirmed yet, as its reported by the NY Daily News. I'm not sure even the yanks are that knee-jerk. You can't fire a 1000+ win manager because Sheff (1-12 with 5 SO), K-rod (1-14 with 5 SO), and Giambi (1-8 with a HR) didn't show up during the postseason.

Whoever grabs Torre (if he comes out) made the friggin steal of the offseason.

That's classic Yankee postseason play in recent years (falling apart). It's not Torre's fault at all. -CSM

Almost too bad the Astros resigned Garner (But fired Jim Hickey? WTF?).

The Mets advanced to the NLCS AND the Yankees were eliminated from the postseason on the same night. Best. Friday. Ever.

Yanks suck

Torre or Girardi better be the next Cubs manager.

What STILL bugs me is that the Media is covering the Skankees more than the teams who are still in it. It's almost like the media is biased towards the Skankees. -CSM

Potentially firing a manager that's made the playoffs for 10 straight years with 1000+ wins is huge news because of the pure stupidity involved. It would be the same thing if the Braves told Bobby Cox to GTFO.

Typical Yanks though: tons of hype with no delivery.

ESPN.com - MLB - Torre will not be fired, still Yankees manager
