Is this fair?

I was reading in the newspaper that the majority of the people who have tickets for the Toronto Maple Leafs (about 70%) are corporate season ticket holders, who usually don't even bother to watch the game. Instead they go to various VIP bars and clubs inside the Air Canada Centre leaving the seats (which are usually the seats at the front) empty.

Normal fans, in the meantime, have to cope to either the worst seats or no seats (standing room).

It's not a good idea, but, hey, they spent the money on it. But I bet my hat that during play-offs, those seats are getting filled one way or another.

A better solution would be to have the VIP bars and whatnot as a separate ticket, which would free up seats for the other guys and gals. But that's probably too easy.

This is why I oppose the plan for luxury boxes at the Big House. -CSM

If they didn't sell the lower bowl to corporate season ticket holders, could you afford to plunk down the 136.90-381.80 (Canadian) to sit there? Didn't think so. Fact of the matter is, I've never sat in the lower bowl for pro hockey, but the experience in the cheap seats with real fans is a better experience.

Um...luxury boxes act as seats. They're not taking up prime seats on the 50 yard-line if they're in boxes.
