Pinella signs with Cubs

ESPN.com - MLB - Report: Piniella agrees to three-year deal to manage Cubs

May work if they bring in a big free agent or a big trade.

I doubt he'll help the Cubs win though (and seriously hope the Cubs keep losing). -CSM

It wouldn't be inconcivable for them to make two free agent/trade moves and be able to take the NL Central. The division is extremely weak right now, and any team that makes the right offseason moves could take it.

All depends how much the Tribune Co. is willing to spend.

It's not that I'm a Mets fan. It's that the Cubs are a national bandwagon team. At least the Mets have to play second fiddle in their own city. In my mind, the fewer fans of a team there are, the more likely I will root for them. -CSM

^Don't see you rooting for the Royals, Pirates, Marlins, Mariners or Nats.

Well I have to pick one. And I can never root for the Marlins or Nats because they're in the Mets' division. The Pirates are the only one I'd consider rooting for. As a general rule, I try to avoid bandwagon jumping. Here's my list of favorite teams per division:

NL:
East: Mets
Central: Cards (not now though for obvious reasons) (and the only reason I pick them is because I go to college in St. Louis, not because of how good they are)
West: Rockies
AL:
East: Orioles
Central: White Sox
West: Mariners
