I think it's quite important considering this is the Sports forum. Here you can make predictions, throw a vgf Superbowl party. Pretty much this is about a week and a half in advance woo! |

I don't think that the Bears O will be able to score a 1/2 of the points Indianapolis can score. Sure, they've improved their Offense, but it won't be enough. My prediction? Colts:30 Bears:13. And four turnovers? Not happening. 2 at most. Last edited by VWF_champion; 01-25-2007 at 04:28 PM. |

First, the Bears DEFENSE sets up short fields, allowing the opportunity to score points either through holding teams or causing turnovers. Second, the Bears have put more than 30 points on the board EIGHT times this year, which beats the Colts (who had one more game to play mind you). Third, if you go by points scored, they have 427 points score (same as the oh-so-mighty Indy) and they have ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE fewer points allowed than Indy. Fourth, Bears have a +13 giveaway/takeaway ratio, putting them at the top of the NFC and behind only Baltimore and tied with San Diego. In terms of total take-aways, they're at the top of the league with 43. Fifth, the Bears are second in the league in picks (behind Baltimore) with 24, tied for first with Miami for Forced Fumbles at 27, fifth in the league in yards per game Sixth, they shut down the Saints offense brutally, who was by far the best offense in the league in terms of yards. Seventh, Manning has a 66.8 rating in the postseason (2 TDs to 6 INTS), putting him below the following: Romo, Brees, Eli Manning, Garcia, Pennington, Brady, Grossman, and Hasselbeck in terms of QB rating. In terms of picks, he's leading in the postseason with 6. Eight, Chicago in the postseason is averaging more yards on the ground per game (158), has more touchdowns (5), and quite frankly has better backs. Ninth, Chicago in the regular season held opponents on 3rd down 31% of the time (second to Baltimore) and held opponents to the second fewest first downs in the league (to Baltimore). Tenth, Chicago has 143 points off of kicking and have FIVE special team runbacks for touchdowns. STFU. Quote:
<21F: 1.3 41-60: 73.9 61-80: 118.3 Indoors: 61.1 Current Temperature in Miami: 62, projected to be in the upper 70s by Superbowl Sunday. Keep in mind Rex Grossman slayed at Florida in college (61%, 77TDs to 36 picks, 9,164 yards in 3 years) and his major knock is that he's a warm weather QB and struggles in the cold. The numbers match this hypothesis (1.3 at home in december, 23.7 in New England, 36 at home in november), and even then the 0 is a non-factor considering it was in week 17 in a game that had no significance outside of Bear zealots that hate Wisconsin, and going further he was yanked early in the game. Two pro-bowlers from the O-line (including the 2007 first team all-pro center Kreutz), the first team all pro kicker, the first team all pro return specialist, two pro bowl linebackers (one first team all pro, one second team all pro). Oops. You're dumb. Not to mention one of the top five DE tandems in the league, and an extremely good (and deep) secondary. Yeah guys, I just did this to anything you can possibly say: ![]() *stats taken from ESPN, SI, NFL, and weather.com Last edited by Lurch1982; 01-25-2007 at 07:08 PM. Do you think a guy who has been in that little experience will make a difference! |

| Senior Member Join Date: May 2000 Location: Katrinaland, USA Gender: Posts: 9,278 Thanks: 122 Thanked 253 Times in 140 Posts | Funny you should say that, he's put up better stats in his first full year than Manning did in his first full year. Manning rookie year: 326/575, 56.7% 3739 yards, 6.5/att, 26 TD to 28 INT, 22 sacks against, rating of 71.2 Grossman's first full season (2006): 262/480, 54.6%, 3193 yards, 6.7/att, 23 TD to 20 INTs, 21 sacks against, and a rating of 73.9 Slightly better, but still better none the less. He played 2 games in his rookie year after the Bears tanked, shredded his knee in the first game his second year, and blew his Achilles in year three. Considering he's essentially a rookie, he's doing a-****ing-mazing. Going further, Manning posted a lovely 39.6 rating against Baltimore, who run a similar defense to Chicago. You're missing the entire point, the Bears do not run through Grossman, they run through the defense. If they win the turnover battle (which they will since the Colts are a middle of the pack turnover team at 25 on the season). And Prior is 42-29 with a 19 win season under his belt and a career 3.49 ERA. The only number he doesn't look great in is the no decisions (40+ out of 106), but considering how bad the Cubs have played lately it really isn't that shocking. Dude had freak injuries, sure, but he hasn't had a tommy johns and hasn't had any other reconstructive surgery. |
