Except if you read it, this story is based on Yahoo News obtaining records that ask for a variety of records in an extortion case, including (and here's the key word) any recordings. They haven't confirmed that they tell anything, and for all you (or the esteemed Yahoo news) know, the tapes could confirm that this guy was extorting Bush and his family.

Bad reporting on Yahoo's part, and bad reporting on everyone who picked it up. It could develop into a real story, but as of right now that headline could read "Tapes COULD reveal that Bush is an alien" and it has the same meaning.

Except the Washington Times is a step above the NY Post. They aren't exactly known for their great reporting. Come on, they just ran a story that said Barack Obama attended school at a fundamentalist Muslim school funded by the Saudis to teach anti-American rhetoric. Not true, obviously, as shown by ABC and CNN actually investigating and reporting on this.

FYI, for papers: Good = NY Times and Washington Post. Bad = NY Post and Washington Times.

While we're at it, anyone who pulls for a school that produces Maurice Clarett, someone surrounded by clouds of academic favoritism, insurance fraud, illegal gifts, and, quite frankly, provided more evidence to deep six Ohio State's program than some sleazy would-be agent who's entire goal in this entire situation with Bush was to extort, really has no room to poke at other programs.

That's pretty much my point. I don't believe that tOSU is clean, just like I don't believe that any SEC team, Pac-10 team, Big 10 team, Big 12 team, Big East team, or half of the ACC teams are clean.
