Gender: Posts: 5,634 Thanks: 7 Thanked 153 Times in 109 Posts | Auron's NFL Midseason Awards Well, since every team in the NFL has played at least eight games so far, I figured it was a good time to hand out midseason awards as I see fit. NFL MVP: Tom Brady (NE). It's hard to argue with this one. Brady already broke the team record for touchdown passes in a season and is on pace for over 60 of them. We already new Brady was an elite QB, but now that he has the weapons he deserves, he's showing us that he's not only elite, but downright inhuman. The 9-0 record doesn't hurt, either. Runner-ups: Brett Favre (GB), Adrian Peterson (MIN), Derek Anderson (CLE) Offensive MVP: Adrian Peterson. It's easy to say that Brady should win this too, but the fact is Adrian Peterson is leading the league in rushing yards, rushing TDs, total yards, and is third in the league with 9 TDs. All with virtually no passing attack at all. Runner-ups: Tom Brady (NE), Randy Moss (NE), Joseph Addai (IND) Defensive MVP: Osi Umenyiora (NYG). He's tied for 5th in the league with 8.0 sacks. Even though 6 of those sacks came against the Eagles, he's largely responsible for rejuvinating the defense this season after a 0-2 start. Runner-ups: Mike Vrabel (NE), London Fletcher (WAS), Bob Sanders (IND) Offensive Rookie: Adrian Peterson (MIN). He's leading the league in rushing yards, rushing TDs, and total yards, all with no passing attack. Oh, and by the way, he's a rookie. Runner-ups: Marshawn Lynch (BUF), Dwayne Bowe (KC), James Jones (GB) Defensive Rookie: Patrick Willis (SF). Despite the 49ers bad record and defense, Patrick Willis is leading the league in tackles and was voted Rookie-of-the-Week twice. Runner-ups: David Harris (NYJ), Amobi Okoye (HOU), Tanard Jackson (TB) Suprise Player: Derek Anderson (CLE). Anderson is the main reason behind Cleveland's remarkable surgance as well as their dynamic offense. Before, everyone was clamoring for Brady Quinn to come in, but with the way Anderson is playing, the Browns might not have a need for Quinn in the future at all. Runner-ups: Adrian Peterson (MIN), Earnest Graham (TB), John DiGiorgio (BUF) Disapointing Player: Shaun Alexander (SEA). By far, the most disapointing player this year. He is averaging only 3.3 ypc this year and has been a none factor in most of Seattle's games this year. Not exactly the production you'd expect from a former NFL MVP two seasons ago. Runner-ups: Frank Gore (SF), Donavan McNabb (PHI), Tavaris Jackson (MIN) Suprise Teams: Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns. Both of these teams success were equally unexpected, and I couldn't choose between the two, so I had to award them both. After picking 2nd and 3rd (respectively) in the NFL draft, many figured it would be a building year for both of them. Wrong. As it turns out, both of these teams have very potent offenses this year and are each one game behind the divison leader. And we all thought Romeo Crenell was out of a job and Kitna was full of ****. Runner-ups: Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Disapointing Team: San Diego Chargers. While they may still be tied for first in their division, they still win this award based on how they've failed to meet their lofty playoff expectations so far. They seemed to be coming back into form in recent weeks and could have avoided this list entirely, but they proceeded to screw up a winnable game in Minnesota against a passless Vikings team. Teams with Superbowl expectations don't let a rookie run for an NFL record 296 yards against them. Their season is even more disapointing when you factor in that they have almost all their starters returning from last year plus Chris Chambers. Even though they could still make a run in the playoffs and get to the Superbowl, it all seems unlikely considering how Norv Turner has got this team playing. Runner-ups: Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, the whole NFC West Feel free to chime in or post your own mid-season awards. |

Defensive MVP: Albert Haynesworth anyone? He is on a very quiet 6-2 Titans team. Offensive Rookie: Marshon Lynch would be a distant second on this one, if his team wasn't 4-4, he'd be getting some attention. Defensive Rookie: Tenard Jackson (TB) Suprise Player: Definetly Derek Anderson, with Graham in a close second, but what about Cleo Lemon? He hasn't been doing THAT bad on a sh*tty team and David Garrard's play prior to his injury? Disapointing Player: Shaun Alexander tops this list, an you really can't call Tavaris a disappointment seeing as how he only had two starts cmoing into the season. I am disappointed in him, but I don't think he's up there with Rivers, Alexander, McNabb, or Green. Suprise Teams: Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns. Was I the only one that greed with Kitna? I said Detroit could do that before the season starte and everyone looked at me as retarded. Disapointing Team: Baltimore Ravens, period. This team just hit rock bottom so fast. __________________ Season 1- Coming to a Youtube near you....whenever |

| Senior Member | Well, I thought the Green Bay Packers qualified as a surprise team. They're at the top of their division and they're the youngest team in the NFL, right? That qualifies as a suprise to me... |

I had actually expected Green Bay to do good this year. I thought the Browns and Lions would be fighting for a top draft pick again. |

I thought they'd be like an NFC version of the Old Colts, scoring in bunches to win games, but nope, they're doing it on all sides. __________________ Season 1- Coming to a Youtube near you....whenever |
