Learn the name. 7 IP, 1 H, 1 ER in his major league debut. 10 Ks, the most in a debut since 1900. Was still throwing 95 MPH+ in the 6th. Holy ****ing ****. |

They got swept by the Royals and are on the verge of getting swept by the White Sux. The starters don't look good, the pen looks awful, and the offense isn't working right. There was cause for concern with the bottom 3 of the rotation and the entire bullpen. This was a team that needed to make a move for some pen depth. Houston has shown what's going to happen all year. The offense will score 6 runs, the opponents will score 8. Their rotation (minus Oswalt) is trash and their entire pen is trash. Except Valverde, who is essentially useless if your setup guys and middle relief and 2-5 starters don't give you a save situation. Colorado starting slow isn't an anomoly. Cincy, Baltimore, and Florida are anomolies. Milwaulkee will go as far as their rotation takes them, though don't take too much from the first Chicago series (2-1) and the SF series (SF is one of the worst teams in the league). I expect Sheets month long stint to the DL to happen by June 1. Gagne's first outing (Blown save) is the real Gagne. He won't be the firm closer by the ASG. Not sold on the Cards. I think they'll be a 3rd place finisher in the NL Central, but I don't think they have the personel or the health to stay in the hunt into September. Pujols will probably get washed for the season for his elbow. Not panicing on the Mets yet. I do think they won't run away with the division. I think Atlanta is back, and I don't think Santana will get the NL Cy Young or be the wins leader. Fukudome is real. NL RotY. If Derrick Lee keeps hitting like this, he's back in contention for the batting title. Triple crown might be out of reach with monsters like R Howard and P Fielder in the NL. Nobody ever doubted K-patt could hit. People doubted if he could lay off of pitches long enough to slam one over the fence. Also, Tigers finally won. |

Tigers struggling shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. They only have one really good starter and a mediocre pen. If the bats go cold, they're going to lose. Granted, giving up 118 runs in 20 games will do that too. Boston turned it around rather quickly, though they're giving up more runs than you'd want. Phillies are expected to struggle without J-Roll. Mets, again, have the same problems they had last year. Questionable health, questionable depth, questionable pen. The Yanks haven't started fast in the last few years. Not expecting them to run out of the gate. Trends to pay attention to: Atlanta is real and has the potential to win that division. They need to convert more opportunities. If the Cubs bats stay this hot, they'll win 100 games and run away with the Central. Gagne as a Brewer is comedic gold with the blown saves. Dude is done. Cards could be a Wild Card team, but they're as good as they are healthy. Astros are likely going to finish a distant 4th..maybe even 5th. Pitching is atrocious. Dbacks look amazing right now. Everything else in that division looks underachieving. Padres still can't score, Rockies are back to hemmoraging runs, and the Dodgers are underachieving. Teams that are not real: Baltimore, Florida, KC, Oakland Jury's still out: ATL, White Sox, STL Teams that will be back in it before you realize it: Cle, Det, Sea, NYY |

I wish I could watch effing games down here in VA. Cabrera has just been a beast. The playoffs will come sooner or later for the O's. Especially now that they have some young players to look forward to. And some actual pitching. After 10 losing seasons though, one step at a time. -jay |

I'm not picking the Mets, especially when they're this hot, and there's no way in hell I'm picking the Cubs to win or even be there. The AL I couldn't care less about (although I'd like to see the White Sox go to the World Series just to piss off Cubs fans ). -CSM |
