Should Illinois have made it to the Rose Bowl over Georgia

Because I'm SO PISSED about this I have to make a poll. The BCS officially said Illinois is better than Georgia. I'd like to see them shut down Moreno. They're a three loss team, and one of those losses is to my other favorite CFB team. -CSM

I'm in the "anger" stage right now. When I reach the "acceptance" stage (should be tomorrow), I'll make a topic acknowledging that Illinois is a better team than Georgia. -CSM

And two loss teams shouldn't be in the MNC.

Rumor is Tressel voted Hawaii number one in his ballot. So. freekin. awesome.

Troy didn't get into a bowl game.

8-4 Troy, who's losses came against @ Florida, Georgia and Arkansas (and put up at least 25 on all of them) and FAU in the last game of the season for the Sun Belt Championship.

There's a lot of injustices this year, but this is one of the bigger ones, Troy is one of the top 3 or 4 mid major teams this year and better than half of the teams going bowling this year- including SEVEN 6-6 TEAMS, INCLUDING A MATCHUP BETWEEN TWO 6-6 TEAMS.

This is why mid majors can't schedule brutal schedules

Apparently Chris Sleigh(sp?), who is the SEC commissioner, said that he's open to ideas about a 4-team play-off, which could definitely help in deciding a true winner after the craziness of this year.

Granted, we've heard things like this in the past, and nothing.

<3 Four team playoff, perfect size.

But I'd still bet my house on it that we won't see a playoff in my lifetime.

I don't think it will ever happen. Too much money tied into the bowls.

And I don't know how the hell we stick with a system that never works. Every year we claim to solve the problem and every year there are always problems.

It was done in order to preserve the Pac-10/Big Ten matchup.

Not saying it makes it right, but there is some kind of logic behind it.

Faulty logic. Silly decision. GA in Rose, ASU in Orange, then MO in Fiesta. I think that makes sense.

USC/Illinois is a ridiculously intriguing matchup and if you say you won't watch it, you're lying. You want to see if Illinois can hang with the greatest team in the history of life. You know you do. And as you know, the traditionalist in me thinks the Rose should be Big Ten/Pac-10 whenever possible.

Traditional bowl matchups don't work anymore. Too many teams are becoming competitive. You have to try and get the best matchup possible. No more living in the past. It's time to live in what's happening right now. This holds especially true for Notre Dame fans (and Michigan fans, too, sadly, but in case you've forgotten Michigan fans are their own biggest critics) -CSM

The Rose is just about the only traditional one left.

Wait- USC and Illinois aren't competitive?

They are, but Georgia's more competitive than Illinois. In today's society, getting the best possible matchup by picking teams that match well is more important than preserving antiquated traditions. As much fun as traditions are, some are hindering. Maybe next year, when I'm gonna pick the Illini to win the Big Ten, it'll be a good matchup. -CSM
