It's also worth noting that most of my friends moved to Wisconsin from other places.

This **** is still going on up here, and here's my take on it:

Trade Favre, keep Rogers. Do not give Favre an unconditional release, because he has been pampered like a spoiled baby in Green Bay for the past decade or so. The Packers need to get what they can get out of this deal.

This has all become beyond ridiculous. Favre is a column on every single ESPN daytime sports talk show(1st and 10, ATH, PTI), and he has his own column on the ticker at the bottom of the screen where the sports are.

IMO, Green Bay messed up. Granted, they had to trade Favre eventually because of how they handled the situation in the first place, but how do you not bring back the quarterback who got you one game away from the superbowl? I don't care if he came back a couple days before their first game, you play Brett Favre.

It isn't fair to the team and isn't fair to the GM. Favre's retirement altered their entire draft strategy (2nd rounder and 7th rounder used on a QB). He retired, he should have stayed retired. Goddell shouldn't have reinstated to begin with IMO. Honestly, if I'm a GM and my QB retired, causing me to use my entire offseason to build around "Year without Favre," I'm going to be extremely pissed when he suddenly decides to show up after the draft and after camp started.

^Exactly that. Farve is being an ass. One player does not a team make, and his sudden reappearance, should he have played, would have definitely affected the team as a whole.

I see where you're coming from, I just don't understand what Green Bay is trying to accomplish with Rodgers as the starter. With Brett they could easily win at least 3 or 4 more games than they would with Rodgers. Brett's being an ass, but to me you have to play him.

As someone who lives in Wisconsin and therefore prefers a Packers win to a Packers loss, I was all for trading Favre. Is he better than Rodgers? More than likely, but keep in mind he's years past his prime, and what little we've seen of Rodgers has been impressive. As Lurch said before, the team spent the entire off season preparing to hand the team down to a new starting Quarterback.

As a Jet fan, I'd have to say I'm pretty bummed about this:

1. We're now America's least favorite team; we even beat out Dallas.

2. I'm now the least popular member of VGF. :P

3. Can anyone say "Madden Curse?"

What happens if Rodgers goes 12-4? Are you going to suggest Favre would have gotten them to 15-1/16-0? On the same coin, what happens if they go 4-12? Favre would make them 8-8/9-7? I'm not sold on that at all, especially since (1) Rodgers doesn't have anywhere near enough NFL experience to make that assumption and (2) that division looks so bad that the winner of it will likely be the only team in the NFC North over .500. Lions still look mediocre, Bears don't have an Offense, Vikings don't have an NFL-quality QB or any offense outside of Peterson, and the Packers are the only team without a glaring flaw outside of QB inexperience.

^Don't worry, you're still my favorite, SML.

Lurch: Try telling something to that effect to WVU fans who are still pissed about the whole Rich Rodriguez fiasco, but who will have a better year this year than last. -CSM

As a Bills fan, I rather have to play Pennington twice a year rather than Favre.
