I feel ambiguous about this. First of all, it's nice to see that there are liberal sports fans just like me, and that Bush is let out into the real world, where people hate him, and that people aren't afraid to boo.

On the other hand, that display was classless. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, not even President Bush. Yes, I flipped him off twice. But he probably didn't see since he was wizzing down the street. -CSM

Olbermann made a big deal about this on Countdown (I really need to stop watching that show...), but I don't see what's the big shocker. A president with 30% approval was booed... Not really a surprise. *shurg*

Well, I do give him credit for handling the pressure, which is something he's not used to since he's basically cuddled by his handlers every day. I think he showed a lot of poise. -CSM

Ultimately, while I second the idea that he sucks, and never liked him (Democrat all the way--well, not exactly, methinks we should go back to respecting the Constitution and have everyone run in the elections instead of what two parties decide should be there) but booing at him is sort of a useless thing, since unlike a while ago, it's not really going to make a statement.

It'll just look rude.

Regardless of how you feel about him, booing the President of the United States during the first pitch ceremony (a long running tradition) at a new ballpark with a patriotic name that is the home of a patriotically-named team in our nation's capital is absolutely lame. Give the guy a two-second break, this had nothing to do with politics. Poor taste.

Olbermann said the guy who caught the ball (Acta) is his boy.

Bush getting boo'd is about right. Dude is just horrible. In bad taste though, you're supposed to cheer/salute the office, not the man. I probably would have just not said anything. Silence is far more effective than boos.

At least he didn't short-hop the pitch. That is certainly worthy of boos (unless you're like 80).

I probably would have less sympathy if they mentioned "And throwing out the first pitch, please welcome George W. Bush." They instead said "the President of the United States," which could make one think they're booing the office (even though I know that since they most definitely cheered after the national anthem which was probably sung by some super popstar and not the team like it's supposed to be (who doesn't? Even I cheer when a slut sings the national anthem)), they're all being ultimate patriots. They're respecting the country but not the leader. Europe finally understands that now. -CSM

Regardless of what you think about him, you can't deny he was very enjoyable in the booth, and came across as a very decent person and commentator overall. I don't mind him to begin with, but his love of baseball would be enough to keep me from booing him. The booing was more than just disrespectful to him and the office, it was disrespectful to baseball.
