Let's Talk About Shaun Hill

Guy is doing it, seriously.

What do you think his hopes are for a future starting career?

Hard to tell in SF. I think the only safe player there (on offense) is Gore. Anyone else is expendable, and much of it depends on if they clear out the coaching staff. I'm not sure Singletary will take over fulltime, and I don't know if Martz will stay there in a coordinator role if they won't use "his players."

He's making a case that they should stick with him (then again, O'Sullivan had a few good games too). I'm expecting Alex Smith to get cut in the offseason.

I would think they'd resign Singletary...or I hope they would. I think he's the guy that in a season or two could have a playoff team. He's got this team fighting after they would just meltdown under Nolan, they respond to him (look at the Vernon Davis incident, all of the sudden he's playing up to potential). I think Martz will be gone as well, and this team is better off without him anyway.

Difference between JTO and Hill is turnover, JTO was just bad at taking care of the ball, Hill does not make the same mistakes. Guy has heart (see the 13 yard run on 3rd down @ Arizona last week) and this offense is responding to him, we'll see if the staff agrees.

I like Singletary, but he needs more wins to keep the job fulltime. Martz will probably get another shot at coaching somewhere. If not, I expect him to get another 1-year-deal for OC duties.

JTO was/is a career backup and shouldn't have played IMO. He knew Martz's system, and Martz made him look good for a few games. I'm not sold on Hill being the longterm solution, but I'm also not sold on Alex Smith being a bust considering he's been in one of the worst QB situations in the league.
