The Big Ten might be competative this year in basketball.

Michigan and Ohio State just upset top ten teams today (Duke and Notre Dame respectively). It's each school's second big win.

I guess I should eat my words when I said the Big Ten is overrated. It clearly isn't.

In football news, it looks like Florida-Oklahoma in the title game. But I'm looking forward to the Rose Bowl where Joe-Pa will bite USC hard (I hope).

edit for Michigan's big win:

Didn't the Big 10 just get rolled for the 10th straight year in the ACC/Big 10 challenge? Not to say the Big 10 isn't competitive, since they're usually a top 3 basketball conference and have someone going pretty deep.

^I think it's probably the fourth best conference (after the Big East, Big XII, and ACC, although now the ACC is looking a little more competative (hopefully Wake will pull a surprise or two)). If you want to talk about not competative, talk about the Pac-10 and the SEC.

I have a gut feeling Michigan and Ohio State will be ruling the Big Ten this year, based on how hot they are (although it's still too early of course). -CSM

Pac-10 is just like it is in football: usually top heavy. The top 2-4 are usually REALLY good, while the bottom field is usually REALLY bad. Some years it gets really deep, but it depends on the recruiting cycle. No excuse for the SEC: usually a one or two team race with a bunch of first-weekend outs at best.

Big East or ACC is hands down best in the country (ACC is carried over everyone else because their top two are early finals "locks").

^I wouldn't be so fast to declare Duke a lock. After the Michigan loss, I think Wake Forest, Miami, and even Maryland have a shot at beating them.

The best team in the Pac-10 also lost to Michigan. Therefore, the best looking team in the Pac-10 right now is Sparky. -CSM

Duke's certainly on an inside track to a 1 or 2 seed, meaning they have an inside track to get in the final four. The team looks extremely solid and better than in years past (like more slashing instead of relying on perimeter shooting). I was referring more towards UNC, as anything short of a Final Four appearance is a miserable failure for that squad.

While most of your stupid NCAA nicknames make some sort of sense, Sparky doesn't.

^Sparky's not a nickname. It's Arizona State's mascot.

UNC is UNC. UNC is basically above and beyond whoever winds up being the number two ranking. UNC is basically NC or bust this year. -CSM
