Pick the Bowl Games....and more.

First, the poll: talk about which controversy was worse in the BCS.

For me it was Ohio State getting an at-large over Boise State. BSU played a competative OoC schedule which included Oregon State and TCU, even though their conference is worse than Ohio State's. And they ARE undefeated, whereas Ohio State has two losses. Lurch, feel free to rail me on this.

Anyway, vote on the Bowls:

EagleBank Bowl

Wake Forest vs. Navy

New Mexico Bowl

Colorado State vs. Fresno State

St. Petersburg Bowl

Memphis vs. South Florida

Las Vegas Bowl

BYU vs. Arizona

New Orleanse

Southern Miss vs. Troy

Poinsettia

Boise State vs. TCU

Hawaii

Hawaii vs. Notre Dame

Motor City

Florida Atlantic vs. Central Michigan

Meineke Car Care

West Virginia vs. North Carolina

Champs Sports

Wisconsin vs. Florida State

Emerald

Miami vs. California

Independence

Northern Illinois vs. LA Tech

Papa John's

NC State vs. Rutgers

Alamo

Mizzou vs. Northwestern

Humanitarian

Maryland vs. Nevada

Texas

Rice vs. Western Michigan

Holiday

Oklahoma State vs. Oregon

Armed Forces

Houston vs. Air Force

Sun

Oregon State vs. Pittsburgh

Liberty

Kentucky vs. East Carolina

GMAC

Tulsa vs. Ball State

International

Buffalo vs. Connecticut

Music City

Boston College vs. Vanderbilt

Insight.com

Kansas vs. Minnesota

Peach

LSU vs. Georgia Tech

Hall of Fame

South Carolina vs. Iowa

Gator

Clemson vs. Nebraska

Cotton

Ole Miss vs. Texas Tech

Citrus

Georgia vs. Michigan State

Rose

Penn State vs. USC

Fiesta

Ohio State vs. Texas

Sugar

Utah vs. Alabama

Boise State played Oregon (who was starting their 4th string QB), not Oregon State. And they didn't even play TCU- that's their bowl opponent.

Two mid-majors are never going to get BCS bids. The two lowest rated BCS games? Pittsburgh-Utah from 2005 and Hawaii-Georgia from last season. Even Boise State-Oklahoma didn't get that great of ratings compared to its BCS vs BCS counterparts. Rip it all you want, but the BCS does it's real job well- putting butts in the seats at the game and on the couches at home.

However, for my school's sake, I would've much rather seen a Ohio State-Utah matchup. Ugh. I'm scurred.

BCS is great at putting butts in seats and in turn...generating money. Doesn't mean that said team is deserving.

I'm happy that CUSA has 5 bowl teams (ECU, Tulsa, Houston, Memphis, and Houston).

That's the main reason we need a playoff. No longer is it about money, because the money is there already because people like playoffs.

(ShyGuy: I meant Oregon, sorry. Utah played Oregon State. It's easy to get the Oregon schools and the non-BCS unbeatens mixed up). -CSM

Business wise, isn't all the same?

As horrible as Ohio State's national perception is right now, the way people are acting makes one think that they got a bid over like five teams that had amazing years. When really (keeping with the BCS rules of course) it's undefeated Boise State...and erm....9-3 Georgia Tech? Two loss TCU? If you tell me Ohio State didn't earn a bid, at least tell me who should replace them.

I'm not really a big college football person, but I am excited to see Buffalo in their first bowl game in 50 years. Granted, since there are so many bowl games nowadays, it doesn't really mean as much as it did back than.

Thing is, you can put butts in seats in a playoff system.

And you can still have bowls....BCS bowls, really.

Hawaii getting annihilated in the Sugar Bowl last year hurt mid-majors in the BCS as a whole.

Concerning Ohio State and teams that should be in the BCS before them: Texas Tech and TCU (TT moreso than TCU). I don't think anyone else has a case since it starts to wash out after that.

Granted, that isn't the worst BCS bowl. That would be the Orange Bowl, with 2 loss Cincy and FOUR loss VaTech.

Texas Tech, obviously BCS worthy over Ohio State but dumb rules prevent that from happening.

TCU, though? As good a mid-major conference the Mountain West is, BYU is their only real notable win. Their two losses came to two teams now in the BCS, just like Ohio State's, who has wins over two currently ranked teams. Toss up between your opinion of the Big Ten versus the Mountain West and how good you believe BYU/Northwestern/Michigan State to be.

Actually, it's their first EVER Bowl Game because they declined the other invitation because their African American players wouldn't be allowed to play. -CSM

Honestly, I just threw them out there based on the BCS computer composite (both were scored higher than Ohio St). I think TT got the shaft on the Big XII threeway tie situation, mainly because a team they beat is getting a better bowl berth than they are and I'd like to see TT's offense skunk someone better than Ole Miss.

You can fight all you want about who's the best team in the Big XII (one of my favorite blogs, Burnt Orange Nation, even has the weekly poll as "Which number is greater? 45 or 35?"), but it won't get you anywhere. The pollsters had to pick one, and it was Oklahoma. We could have this argument until next season and beyond if you want, it won't change what happened. -CSM

^Pretty much. Soon they're gonna run out of bowl eligible teams. I think they should invite the I-AA national champion to a bowl if they're gonna keep doing this. -CSM

The computers had Texas over Florida, the pollers boosted Florida. This is mainly due to Alabama being overrated by human polls, when the computer polls would have them

It does set up the possibility for a split title though. If OU and Florida is tight while Texas blows out Ohio State, you might see the human polls kick Texas up. The likely split scenario would come from the AP, where OU (2) and Tex (3) are separated by 10 votes. OU would need to squeak by Florida while Texas would have to absolutely annihilate Ohio St (like I'm talking 35+ points on them).

^The coaches poll has to vote for the BCS winner. Only the AP poll can do a split title.

I just hope Colt McCoy wins the Heisman. -CSM

Tebow is obscenely better as a college player. McCoy and Bradford will be much better pros and will probably be around longer than Tebow, but Tebow is by far the best player in the land.

Tebow should win this, hands down IMO, but I agree with Lurch.

Tebow will basically be a white Mike Vick: can run like all hell, but won't be the greatest passer ever. I think ultimately Bradford ends up with the best pro career out of the three.

Graham Harrell from TT will also likely be a good pro, though I could see him dropping as low as the 3rd round in the draft.

The Heisman hype could ultimately kill Tebow's career. He may not even get a high draft status out of the deal. Granted, I could see him staying at Florida for his Senior year. If Tebow's stock skyrockets, he's going to wind up in some awful situation like Detroit, San Francisco, or Oakland.

Granted, none of the QBs are on Mel Kiper's Big Stupid Board.
