Official Superbowl Topic: Steelers Superbowl XLIII Champions!

Who ya got? How are you planning on watching the game? Anything related to it post it here..

Personally my heart is saying Cards but my mind is saying Steelers..I think if Willie Parker had not began to establish himself through the playoffs I might be picking the Cards..but it's just too much for the Cards to handle with the Steelers D and their ability to beat you in a variety of ways.

Steelers 20-14

I can't believe that let that play go unchallenged. Kurt's arm was coming forward, not only that, but the ball was released in a passing fashion, it came straight out, it didn't flop out, and wasn't forced out.

Yeah, that last call wasn't the best. But damn, what a good game.

It was forced out. If a passing motion ends, and the ball is knocked out by defensive force, it's a fumble. -CSM

It wasn't forced out, it was muffled a little, but it wasn't forced out by hte defender.

The DE being there caused it to come out like a lame duck, but he didn't cause it to come out. Kurt's arm was moving forward and had released the ball.

It was hard to tell. I only think it's a pass if he released it under his own power. If the defender dislodged it while his arm was extended but he still had possession of the ball, it's a fumble. -CSM

And although that's logically true, I don't think that's what the rule is.

It goes by "open hand", Kurt's hand was opened and released the ball, but the defender simultaneously knocked the ball down as it was coming out, hence why the projector was so odd (took almost a 45 degree angle to the ground, causing it to bounce/roll forward the way it did).

Wow, what a great game.

In regard to that fumble (yes, it was a fumble) I too am surprised it wasn't reviewed, but the ball most certainly came loose from Warner's hand before his arm started going forward. Not only does the ball have to be in his hand as his arm is going forward, but there has to be a certain amount of control, which he didn't have.

Like I said though, definitely should've been reviewed, but the call was right.

Yeah, it should've been reviewed, but if it were I don't think there was enough evidence to overturn the call on the field.

In the college game that would've been reviewed. -CSM

I honestly don't think the call was right..Kurt I think lost control of the ball for a second but he forced it out in a passing fashion as his arm was going forward. I agree that it shouldn't have been overturned if it was called a fumble on the field, but I think it should have been called an incomplete pass on the field. The refs altogether I thought were pretty questionable in this game.

But regardless Zona's secondary let them down in the end after doing a pretty good job all day. This game was ALMOST as legendary as last year's bowl..a lot better of a game then I thought it would be.

Well, this is certainly in the top 3 Superbowl games I've seen, the other two being last year's, and the Titans-Rams Superbowl.
