The 2010 World Cup Thread!

I know we're about... 4/5 months away, but never to early to get some predictions in right?

Wow....we got a pretty good draw there. No "Power six" nations (France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Brazil, and Argentina) in our group. The groups do look pretty even. Group A looks the toughest (France and Uruguay).

I'm pumped for the World Cup; the problem is I can never watch it because of the time difference meaning the games are on while I'm working. -CSM

England's still pretty good though and until the US team in the Cup proves that they either won't choke or play for ties/maintain leads, I'm pessimistic.

Also, holding it in South Africa is pretty much insulting. Over under five people kidnapped/murdered. The Olympics in Rio are a safer bet. Repeating that scene in Harlem with the sign from Die Hard 3 is a safer bet.

Get a DVR or get lots of coffee.

I want Mexico to win but we got France and Uruguay in our group, but we aren't pushover's so you never know. I've been a Brazil/Mexico fan since I've been watching soccer. Can't wait to see England vs USA, gonna be an epic World Cup

Sticky please?

I'm going for England. Looks like they actually might have a shot at doing well this year. That is, if Ian Broudie updates "Three Lions" again this year.

Well I for one am a huge fan of the sport and have loved it all my life. Last World Cup I literally watched every single game and though I don't intend to do the same this time around I'm sure I'll be glued to the TV set day after day after glorious day.

Am I the only one that thinks Red Cards should be reserved for attempts to attack the player and not the ball? -CSM

I'll take a tie. I should probably get into this a bit more...

^ I suggest an obsessed brother. Those'll get you into the game.

I wasn't expecting the US to win, either a tie or England winning by 1. Tie's better, so I'm good.

Cheering for the United States in soccer is like placing a bet that your seven-year-old child could take on Manny Pacquiao in a fight. I mean, it's noble and cute and all, but you're on a high speed train to disappointment.

I'm rooting for USA, then Germany, since I'm of mostly German heritage. They rocked Australia today.

The seven-year-old would win by default since Pacquiao can't pass a real drug testing scheme.

Though you're right. USA Soccer has been saying the same crap since the 70s and it never pays off. They still play passive and refuse to use any strengths to their advantages. Playing not to lose does not work.

^ Yeah, there were moments in that game where it looked like the USA was really good, but then they made an awful pass or we slowed down, and England got the ball back. Only consistent part of the game was Tim Howard (and Onyewu's fantastic beard. You guys saw that, right? Holy **** I want one like that)

Also, I saw the first half of the Portugal/Ivory Coast game. Portugal looked awful. Just terrible. Also one of my friends called Ivory Coast a bunch of babies. The entire team combined probably didn't whine as much as Ronaldo.

So, from two down, to level, to lol no win for you. I know how I'd feel if that was us playing, I'd be gutted.

I think a draw between England and Algeria tonight will be your best result. What say you Americans?

WTF is Wayne Rooney on sleeping pills? Gerrard can't carry the team by himself.
