It's happened at home, my friends house, conventions, in the car... its bad. And people use it against me. |

| Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Gender: Posts: 9,659 Thanks: 31 Thanked 89 Times in 71 Posts | First: Don't save sprite comics, sprites, pixel art, or anything that has flat colors, a limited palette, or pixel-level details that are important as .jpegs. Second: The ship. I know nothing about Star Trek, but I can still tell you the ship suffers from a lack of contrast. I struggled with this for quite a while too. You use lots of shades everywhere, but don't make good use of them. The ship looks like a grey blob. The three shades of gray you use would be better off as one shade. They're very hard to tell from one another. See my replacement shades. (at the bottom is the energy blast from one of your sprite sheets; notice how with more contrast it looks much more like an energy blast)  See how each color is distinct? Of course, you can't just do a palette swap and make the ship look good. You have only three shades - a dark shade, a medium shade, and an outline shade. You need a light shade. Also, your ship doesn't seem to have a lightsource, but what would it be? stars? That part doesn't really matter much. Oh, BTW, the color ramps on the red and yellow parts of the ship could be made to have more contrast as well. |
