Of course, spriting will still be allowed, but the forum will focus primarily on comics done by hand, be it pen & paper or on a tablet. Please let me know what you think of the idea, and if you have any suggestions, please post them. |

If the change meant this wouldn't be a spriting forum anymore, then no. Otherwise... why not? Maybe I'd post something hand-drawn. |

I'd suggest you make a separate forum for non-spriting instead. Otherwise, your proposal should be rewritten to be "We don't want to see anymore sprite comics." Since otherwise if you allow them in the new forum, then you'll go through all this work only to then encounter... the same topics you said you were moving away from, since a large portion of the people in this forum only sprite. So, while it is a good idea to separate this forum from is SMBHQ category, and perhaps to encourage something other than spriting, I believe you'd get more done if you had a non-spriting comic forum (if there really is demand for such) and then put this one alongside it in the art area. Since after all, sprites aren't exclusive to SMBHQ, are they? |

Plus, people also post custom sprite work here, not just comics. In other words, we should have two different forums. One forum for anything that has to do with sprites, wether it be custom sprite work, or sprite comics, and another forum for hand drawn comics. |

"Works" such as sprite-creating could go into a child board. Approved. Which isn't big or anything, I barely come here. |

Right now, I see topics from last year still on the first page. Let's go with Dylan's plan. Yeah! Dylan's plan! Way to be supportive, Loot!

At least, I haven't seen a single topic for one anywhere on VGF. If you go by activity alone, the most reasonable option would be removing the entire forum altogether--for you could fit the 0-1 non-sprite comics out there in the art forum all by itself. |

| *Admin* "mine.. not yours. NO. MINE." Epic Ladynerd Join Date: Jul 2000 Location: Forteresse de Valois Gender: Posts: 28,198 Thanks: 1,510 Thanked 1,718 Times in 992 Posts | The plan wouldn't be to remove spriting from the forum entirely, just to make this place welcome for all comic-ing (which it really isn't right now). No, we're not having multiple comic-related forums just to pander to spriters, so you can cease suggesting it. ![]() Long story short is, the Admins have already approved the inclusion of regular comics (ie. daily newspaper comics, hand drawn, webcomics, photo comics, etc) in this forum, if that's where Dylan wishes to take it. While the Art, Lit and Writing forum is technically perfectly appropriate for your own personal comics, it's certainly more reasonable for our existing comic forum to encompass all comic styles (and that way, discussions about other people's work and professional comic art can also be included). So. Instead of just dismissing the idea outright, I'd like to hear the opposition's concerns about a change to the forum. With the knowledge that sprite work and other forms of comics will be actively encouraged to live side-by-side in the "revamped" forum, what objections do you guys have, exactly? Basically, what I'm asking is, are you objecting because you feel you're being chased out of the forum (which is not the case), or because of another problem? |

So if the proposal is actually more of a 50-50 split, then, there is no real problem with it from me, or probably from the other people. It's just that Dylan's language suggested to me and several others that spriters would be treated as second-class citizens and encouraged to post their sprite work elsewhere to make room for the other comics. Probably an honest mistake on his part, then?
