Out of boredom I decided to work on my spriting a bit by creating graphics for OHR RPG CE games. I don't really plan on making a game myself right now, but maybe in the future I'll give it a try. I've also been using a program called GraphicsGale, which is really swell for spritework. Here's the fruit of my labor thus far: ![]() Some sandy dirt. This is pretty basic, with only two colors, but having played around with it a bit I feel like it doesn't necessarily need to be any more complicated. But I'm not 100% on this. I'd like to know what you guys think. ![]() Here's some grass, obviously. The edges will lay over other tiles such as dirt, or rocky cliffs. ![]() A coniferous tree, which I'm rather pleased with. I'll probably do different kinds of trees later. ![]() And here's a monster graphic I've done: a Tyrannosaurus. I feel like the shading could use some work. I'm using a 256-color palette, by the way. Monster graphics are limited to 15 different colors. Let me know what you think. Last edited by Valigarmander; 08-17-2011 at 08:51 PM. |

Totally usable in so many different ways.In particular the grass and sand. On the shading, it looks like it may need a bit of touching up, but still looks p great nonetheless. Are these all done from scratch? |

His front-right foot looks a little weird, since it's supposed to be lifted off the ground partially. I'm trying to fix it. |

That's some amazing sprite job after all. Oh wait, what you bent is the ankle, not the knee. Or drawing a comparison to human anatomy, the wrist instead of the elbow. I did bend the elbow, but I guess I didn't bend it enough. ![]() ![]() Here's the previous edit on the top, and the new edit (with the elbow bent further) on the bottom. How does it look now? |

I'm still mulling over that. Anywho... ![]() Here's something a little less extinct. The 256-color master palette I was using didn't have much in the orange department, so I had to tweak it a bit to get all the colors I needed. Nevertheless, I'm not sure I've got the tiger exactly the way I want it, so I might edit it a bit later on. Thanks for the comments and critique everyone, by the way. An edit? Already? Why not. ![]() I altered the shape of the head slightly, added some more stripes, and fixed the shading in some places. I think this looks a bit better. Should I have given the tiger balls too? ![]() Here's some more foliage. At the top is a small bush. In the center is a generic tree, and at the bottom is the same tree with some kind of fruit. |
